The term “NEXT OF KIN ” simpliciter, does not confer the right of inheritance on the person so named.

If so, of what use is the term?"

INTRODUCTION

The meaning and the legal implication of the term “NEXT OF KIN ” have been constantly misunderstood by the ordinary public.

It appears, though erroneously, that many people think that once you are appointed the NEXT OF KIN OF A PERSON, it automatically gives you the right to inherit the person’s estate upon his demise.

In fact, many people think that, a NEXT OF KIN gives an exclusive right over a person’s property.

The above erroneous belief and understanding of the term NEXT OF KIN has made many people to shy away from the need to make a Will.

This is because, they think appointing a NEXT OF KIN, is a way of naming your beneficiary.

However, the above assumption is not in conformity with the law.

It must be noted that, IGNORANCE OF THE LAW IS NOT AN EXCUSE.

WHAT THEN IS THE MEANING OF THE TERM “NEXT OF KIN”?

The term, NEXT OF KIN has been described as the nearest blood relative of a person.

See JOSEPH v FAJEMILEHIN O.O & Anor (2012) LPELR-9849(CA).

The term can also refer to a person who can be contacted or notified in cases of emergencies or eventualities.

For instance, one of the forms that is usually filled while on transit, requires the information of NEXT OF KIN.

This is needed in case of any accident.

In other words, where there is an accident involving that person, his NEXT OF KIN shall be notified or informed.

Also, the term is constantly put into use by hospitals.

In this case, NEXT OF KIN means a person who can make medical decisions for a person who is incapacitated or unable to do so, during emergencies.

The term is also frequently used in financial documents by banks and other financial institutions.

In this instance, NEXT OF KIN means a person who can ensure that the proper steps are taken toward

*LESSON* Sometimes our attitude as believers drives souls to Hell.

We can make a difference by how we treat people, especially when they make mistakes.

* IF you cannot be a bridge to connect people, then do not be a wall to separate them.

* IF you cannot be a light to brighten people's good deeds then do not be darkness covering their efforts.

* IF you cannot be water to help people's crops sprout, then do not be a pest destroying their crops.

* IF you cannot be a vaccine to give life, do not be a virus to terminate it.

* IF you cannot be a pencil to write anyone's happiness, then try to be a nice eraser to remove their sadness.

We can always be each others keeper, let us resolve to heal the world and make it a better place. Yes, we can. It is easier to lose soul than to win souls.

We the players of the Kunike United we are calling on the attentions of all football lovers, patriots of Kunike and out of Kunike to please come into our aid as we are currently struggling for football materials such as Balls, jerseys, lines flags and whistles. As we all know Kunike United is one of the best teams in tonkolili District and the North as a whole having played in all the major leagues in the country except the Sierra Leone premier league. Kunike United is the first team in tonkolili to reaches the quarter final of the Sierra Leone F A cup during the 2014_2015 season against the Marampa stars of lunsar which ended in fights and Kunike United lost the match, and during the 2012_2013 tonkolili District league Kunike United became victors against the Tane boys from matotoka. Besides the team has won a lot of matches within the District and out of the District.
It's very dishearten for a team(Division One, Division two) to play with a ball that was converted with an infant ball( Wembley ball) as training ball for the past two months and most often (10_15 mins) the coach usually stop the play to add breeze on the ball. My question here is are the boys going to gain the expected energy? Are they going to protect the past football glory of Kunike? What kind of results you would be expected in any major leagues?
All of us aware of the fact that football is not just a game but it's a way of life when you boost the life of a player today you have save the life of hundreds of people tomorrow.
Please please please, help us with any little thing you can we will appreciate it and God will bestowed His blessings upon you and your entire family. It's urgent because the season is almost coming into an end and we will be soon called upon for competitions

Maybe it makes sense to suppose that today’s globe has a serious threat to deal with in so far as the media’s agenda setting function is concerned. In this discourse, my propositions would not only be limited to traditional mediums of radio, television and newspaper. For the purposes of this narration, I shall be looking into how fake news and false information have disturbed quality and reliable social media agenda setting. This is not to suggest that social media does not come with positives, but the intent of these few lines is to suggest how news falsification is a problem and to also note the relevance of avoiding such potential risks and conflicting situations in society.

In this day and age, we all must be mindful that the power of the media cannot be overstated. The moment we realize this, the better for us all. However, there tends to be a huge and reasonable concern when what is not true and correct begins to inform what we come across either on Facebook or on WhatsApp in Sierra Leone. I am particular about FB and Sap in Sierra Leone because it is my assumption that there are more audiences of those two (almost all smart phone users) in Sierra Leone compared to other mediums like Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter etc.

Theoretical media norms will tell us all that the media must be in a position to inform, educate and entertain all and sundry. Let us advance these arguments. Facts and truths matter in any journalistic and or media dispensations. The problem however with social media among other things, is the fact that there is little or no control of such platforms in a country like Sierra Leone. So, what more or less obtains is the libertarian philosophy where anyone can say what he or she feels like saying or doing, unhindered. These levels of little controls have suggested that professionalism in such a sector would be a difficult thing to attai

Privacy:Is the state of being free from intrusion or disturbance in one's private life or affairs
Invasion of one's privacy is unfortunately common, yet illegal, a practice used in attaining information for some publications. There are a few surprising fact about how far a media professional can go to obtain information, for example, society has little to no right to privacy from the media in public places. Many times, when commercials on the television show a busy street with people going about their business, viewers assume that everyone was told that they would be on television. In some cases, they may have been told. However, it is not illegal for them to be unaware of the cameras 📷. If everyone in a public area can see you, the media has the right to write about individuals, what the individuals, did, and take photos of the individuals as well.

Libel and Slender fall under defamation
Defamation: Is the false or unjustified injury of the good reputation of another, as by slander or liable.
In the media world, reputation is extremely important.

Libel and Slender both fall under defamation. Though both terms denote false statements that damage a person's reputation, the difference between the two is quite simple.
Libel is the use of false, defamatory claims about someone in written or printed form.
Slender is the use of false, defamatory claims about someone committed orally or in any other transient form. Slender, often used informally as a synonym for defamation, is committed more often because people tend to give more thought to written words which are attached to their name rather than the things that come out of their mouths.
