A few shots taken inside Mogadishu Central Prison, Somalia, in the old Hamar jajab district near the Sea Port. A rare visit to this somewhat daunting and infamous institution: supporting a scoping mission which will aim to assist with training, maintenance, organisational systems & suchlike to improve conditions for inmates and staff alike. Adjusting from the dark inside to the bright sunshine of the courtyard was as challenging photographically as was the eerie feeling of being constantly observed by people on both sides of the legal divide. Not a comfortable place - but certainly not as bad as some other country’s correctional facilities. Positive attitudes towards positive change.
