We are thrilled to witness the launching of Somalia's First Implementation Plan, the country’s blueprint to tackle climate change as outcome of , at . The NDC focus on improving food systems, water resources management, energy & more. The NDC implementation plan presents ambitious bankable projects to improve systems, and capabilities for adaptation by 2030.

As the kicks off, we are pleased to be present. During the COP, we look forward to spark conversations and forge partnership with the relevant stakeholders.

Our Head of Research, Abdikafi Hassan Abdi, has presented a research paper titled “Exploring the effects of climate change and government stability on internal conflicts: evidence from selected sub-Saharan African countries” at the 5th Conference on Land Policy in Africa (CLPA) co-organized by AUC, AfDB, and UNECA held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from November 21 to 24.

The theme of this year’s conference was to create greater commitment to accelerate the effective implementation of the AfCFTA to achieve the aspirations and goals of agenda 2063.

New Publication: Exploring the link between , government stability, and conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa. The Study highlights the vulnerability of nations to climate-induced conflicts due to environmental changes and weak governance.

On November 6th, we proudly inaugurated the , which will lead the charge in addressing the climate crisis in Somalia. A vibrant ceremony took place at the University, with government officials, representatives from the private sector, and the civil society came together to cut the ribbon on this symbolically commencement of Nobel mission for the preservation of the people and planet!

Together with Save the Children in Somalia, we successfully concluded Change Symposium on Youth and Children in Mogadishu. Over 50 diverse stakeholders gathered the event including government officials, environmental advocates, private sector and the passionate youth and children.

The symposium emphasized the urgent need for action in the face of climate change, with insightful research presentations, panel discussions, Arts Exhibitions and workshops on climate science, resilience, and activism. The event concluded the adoption of declaration that stressed out the prioritisation of youth and children issues at center climate action as the world is preparing for anticipated gathering of COP28 in UEA.

The symposium become a catalyst for change, empowering the children and youth to a more rights based and impact oriented greener future.
