Valentine’s Day: Tradition and History

The Valentine’s Day holiday originates from an ancient Christian tradition that celebrates the martyrdom of Saint Valentine, a Christian saint who lived during the 3rd century AD. Valentine was a bishop of Terni, Italy, and was arrested and sentenced to death for converting pagans to Christianity and aiding persecuted Christians during the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius II.

According to legend, Saint Valentine was imprisoned and during his imprisonment he performed several miracles, healing the sick and converting other people to Christianity.

Before being executed, Valentino wrote a farewell letter to his beloved, signing it “From Valentino” (hence the term “valentine / a”). Valentine’s Day has since become an occasion to celebrate romantic love, give gifts, exchange messages of love and flowers, and share romantic moments with your partner.

Re: Registration of First Year Students.

It is with great pleasure that the Academic Registry, University of Juba, wishes to invite all students who have been admitted to First Year, for the coming academic year, to start registration on the following dates:

1. December 13th - December 22nd 2023
2. December 28th - December 30th 2023.

The following category of students are all included: General Intake, Direct Intake, Distance Education, Evening Classes (Only First Year Please), and Kuajok Community College.
Registration will be in the various Schools during working hours: 9.00am - 4.00pm.

Bahr el ghazal counties’ league was one the best organized tournament in Juba after the final ended successful between Aweil east east vs yirol west on penalty at buluk play ground.

Missing wallet: A Student at the University of Juba has lost his wallet on Saturday during Bahr el Ghazal Counties' League final at Buluk Playground.

Ajac machol says his wallet contains valid Identity Card from the University of Juba and driving licence written " Ajac Machol Ajac."

He appeals to whoever came across those documents to report to a near by police station or University of Juba.

Machol is a second-year student at the University of Juba pursuing a career in Journalism, Media and Communication Studies.
