For this project, we got involved at the bidding stage by providing an indication of the transport requirements to help our client secure their fabrication order. Because of the pandemic, however, the fabrication was delayed, resulting in space constraints on heavy-lift vessels and an uncertain cargo-readiness date. Thanks to our team's solution of stacking the barges we were able to utilise the limited available space on deck and ensure all arrangements smoothly matched our client's shipping needs.

Committed to solutions-oriented, personalised services, our FLS Solutions team successfully delivered a timely project under some very strict requirements.

From receiving the customer’s order to the shipment of the finished products, we had just 9 weeks. In this time, we tackled the challenge of transferring the end user’s specifications and drawings to Korea while ensuring very low tolerance margins of the finished products. Our experts also oversaw the forging of the raw material, high precision custom machined tube sheet, baffles and flanges, quality control and packing.

As experts in crafted solutions, we believe in the power of flexibility and creativity. Following this philosophy, we recently delivered 8 HSRG modules and spare parts from Shanghai, China, to Singapore - by connecting the shipper, receiver and supplier to meet a critical timeline despite harsh covid restrictions and heavy congestion in China.

FLS booked the vessel MV FU QIANG and arranged floating cranes at origin and destination to lift the cargo from the pier into the hold and on deck. While our engineers calculated the precise requirements of the crane capacity, we had to be flexible with the crane supplier because of the unknown vessel berth timing. We also communicated closely with the shipper and receiver to make sure the cargo was available on-the-spot and limit the stand-by time of SPMT equipment. China’s covid restrictions did not allow our representative on board, as is our standard, however, we still arranged for our staff to supervise from the pier.

Another logistics puzzle was recently solved by FLS Projects Singapore, together with Tschudi Logistics Sweden, and FLS Projects Thailand. This time we chartered an AN-124 to airfreight a core engine for a power plant construction project from Gothenburg, Sweden, to Utapao, Thailand.

The project had tight timelines - an idle to aircraft had to be avoided at each airport at any cost. Our perfect synchronization of manpower, equipment and paperwork started with a faultless night loading operation, despite a freezing cold temperature of -10°C, in Sweden and finished with offloading the cargo from the aircraft in Thailand within just 1 day.
As well as chartering the aircraft, FLS arranged for mobile cranes to place the transport skid delicately on the ramp before the core engine was precisely positioned. Once aligned, a pulley system reeled the cargo to its final orientation in the aircraft before it was lashed down with chains.

The initial apprehensions of our client (it was their first air charter) were appeased by clockwork ex*****on; on schedule and without incident.

We are taking on bigger challenges in the supply chain world and with our sponsored racing team, building on our successful 2021 GTU E46 race series together with Rohde & Liesenfeld and driver Stefan Rzadzinski.

This November, the team entered an LMP3 car into the Motul Petite Le Mans, which is one of the four major Le Mans style endurance races. Have a look at some photos recapping our new chapter in powering the sport of speed, precision and teamwork.

Across the globe, we aim to deliver high-quality, tailor-made solutions for every customer. Our FLS teams in Thailand recently reaffirmed this promise with a one-of-a-kind project.

The scope was extensive and complicated and included sourcing, designing and quoting for an Industrial Re-Packing System for toxic, explosive and hygroscopic powder material. To meet all the technical, budget and eco-friendly requirements, we worked closely with the manufacturer and local sub-contractors. Going above and beyond, the FLS Solutions and FLS Warehousing teams offered value-added services that covered: delivery, customs clearance, transportation and installation at the site in a sealed-off section of our warehouse as well as 10 years of operation, including maintenance and spare parts.

We’re delighted to have been tasked with this unusual project and we're extremely proud of all the FLS people who made it happen!

Every project is important to us and many are crucial to the countries they benefit too. In late May this year FLS Vietnam was proud to deliver two new Cape-class Patrol Boats for the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard. Built by Austal Australia, a specialist in naval ships and patrol boats, our main challenge was to find one vessel that could comply with all technical requirements to lift and carry the patrol boats safely, effectively and efficiently. Ultimately, the solution was to fit the patrol boats on BBC Chartering’s Rushmore cargo vessel diagonally as this enabled us to overcome inherent limitations, such as crane outreach, deck size and stability of the vessel. I am the Overseas Delegate for FLS in India. This means I am the on-the-ground coordinator between FLS offices and our partners & clients throughout India.

Despite the challenges of integrating into the FLS team through virtual meetings, because of the pandemic, we managed to establish FLS Logistics in India. We even onboarded a new strategic client!

I care deeply about people so I provide administrative support for a lunch program for needy villagers as well as basic education for village students. To let off steam, I participate in a 10km run every year.

Take a look at FLS Singapore's excellent job of safely transporting 4 units of DIVE SAT Control Van Machinery modules and accessories originating in Batam, Indonesia.

With the heaviest over-dimensional unit weighing 118 tonnes, it was impossible to transport from yard to SCN Kabil Port via land. To tackle the problem, our experienced specialists rolled on the units from the yard’s private jetty to a barge. The barge was tugged to SCN Kabil Port for a ship-to-ship loading operation onto a FLS chartered multi-purpose vessel.

The loading and long voyage from Batam to Mexico went smoothly as another example of our competence in completing highly complex operations with simple solutions.

How did you get into logistics / warehousing?
After graduating from university, I joined the industry to satisfy my interest in supply chain and production management. After gaining valuable insights into the business at other companies, I joined FLS Warehousing in Thailand.

How long have you worked for FLS?
About 1 year ago I joined the FLS Warehousing business, an exciting new venture of the FLS Group.

What do you do at FLS?
I focus on business development and account management. As the first point of contact, I listen carefully to customers to identify their needs. Then, together with the rest of the team, I help build the technical and service solution which I offer to the customer at the best possible rate.

What makes FLS special?
No red tape or bureaucracy at FLS! We work in a flat organisation with people who know the business well. We decide fast and make actions happen. We have all the benefits of a young and agile company with the financial strength of a large, experienced regional player.

What’s your biggest achievement at FLS?
I’m proud of what we have achieved in such a short time. Today, we are operating food grade FDA approved warehouses, automotive warehouses, and chemical warehouses all over Thailand.

Tell us something that no one knows about you.
Lee Min Ho (a Korean actor) is my secret crush. In my dreams I feed him my homemade chocolate chip cookies (a secret recipe!) in my rose and orchid garden while discussing with him my international coin collection.

This centralised desk will be headed by Sven Höhle who has been with FLS for more than 6 years and brings a wealth of chartering experience. Our engineer, Mr Hung, will support the chartering desk with technical knowledge.

The Chartering Desk provides commercial and technical risk assessment, project quotes, negotiates favourable terms and conditions as well as creates stronger synergies and visibility of shipments amongst all our offices. Our offices around the world help our customers with virtually limitless solutions - we will find a way! Recently, FLS Projects USA arranged for a Waste Heat Boiler to be transported by rail from the fabrication site in Kansas to the er****on site in Florida, a distance of nearly 1,300 miles. We used an 8-axle Flat Deck car with a maximum load capacity of 195 tonnes as well as two idler cars to support the length and weight of the unit. We also handled the route clearance study and submitted the permit application one month before the load date to ensure compliance with all authorities. Projects like this enable us to support US fabricators with specialised domestic transportation solutions. By road, rail, air or sea, FLS will get you there.
