JUNE 2024

We have been lucky enough to celebrate our 5 years of living in this beautiful country . It has been an amazing experience visiting places and learning about the history and culture.
The information and photos we can provide on a monthly basis is hopefully useful to all .
This month has been extremely hot due to rising temperatures coming from Africa, it seems to be rising on a daily basis it’s now in the low to mid 40s and seems to be getting warmer by the day so it’s time to cool down in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea of Oludeniz.
I’ve tried to stay more local this month due to the Kurban Bayram ( Turkish Holiday) as most places are extremely difficult to get to during this period, due to the influx of thousands of extra visitors and cars but there were opportunities to venture out of the area away from the busy crowds .
There are boat trips in abundance from Oludeniz,Calis and Fethyie . We have visited beaches locally in Koca Çalış , Oludeniz,Kidrak and the Kumburu beach on the Blue Lagoon. We have also been lucky enough to enjoy friends and family visiting.
There is certainly a buzz around the area, so now is an opportunity to enjoy and venture out to the amazing restaurants , bars & clubs in Fethiye ,Oludeniz, Calis,Ovacik , Faralya ,Kayakoy & Hisaranou .
Unfortunately sad news our travel buddy Bryan has sadly crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge after 16 amazing years God bless him.

May 2024

This month has been a mix bag of warm cloudy and rainy weather .But definitely warming up to the end of the month and warm enough to bask in the sun and swim in the sea. Whilst the temperatures are still fairly average but getting hotter by the day it’s still comfortable enough to enjoy the rambling around the localised areas with organised groups.
There definitely seems a drop in tourism around the Hisaranou area in comparison to recent years this month but I’m sure it will pick up in early June.
It’s a must to check out the different beaches in Oludeniz,Belceciz beach & Kidrak beach plus the gorgeous Blue Lagoon . The sea is definitely warming so don’t delay a boat or beach trip & swimming in the beautiful turquoise waters of Oludeniz .
You just cannot get bored watching the stunning sunsets over Oludeniz & Calis beaches. Enjoy the entertainment in Hisaranou & along the Calis beach Kordon.
It’s an absolute must to take a pedlo trip or kayak around the stunning Blue Lagoon from Sugar Beach. If possible take a boat trip from either Fethyie , Oludeniz, or Calis travelling along the Jurassic coastline & visiting all the different islands, with the enthralling views.
There is also the Calis boat taxi that takes you from Fethiye to Calis for a small cost.
The Cable car up mount Babadag is an absolute must, with the stunning scenery over the Lagoon plus the famous sunset view.

April 2024

Well what an April this has been, with the temperatures in the upper 20s reaching 30 plus the summer season has certainly started early.
The streets are now bustling with tourists and the area is alive again.
Plenty of birthday celebrations this month too trying all new restaurants on their early season opening.
We was lucky enough to join in the Nomadic village walk from Delikemer to Ptara where hikers would follow the old water system which in Roman times supplied the water from Isamlar a small village in the mountains to Patara which is part of the Lycian way. We were joined by villagers with traditional clothing , musicians , donkeys, horses and camels.
Do not miss out visiting the different beaches in Oludeniz including Belceciz beach ,Kidrak beach plus the gorgeous Blue Lagoon . The sea is warming but still fairly chilly, but you cannot resist beach trips & swimming in the beautiful turquoise waters of Oludeniz .

March 2024

What an incredibly warm and sunny end of the month , due to a heatwave from Africa . Lots of opportunities to take day trips to the beach and local surrounding areas whilst basking in the sun at temperatures of 29 degrees.
There is lots of stirring and buzzing of businesses doing their final preparations prior to what seems an early season this year.

This weather has made this a great opportunity to go hiking , individually or with organised groups taking in the spectacular views.

Where the air is so clear there have been amazing sunsets and great views of the Greek island of Rhodes opposite Fethiye .

February 2024

What an incredibly warm and sunny end to the month . Lots of opportunities to take day trips to the beach and local surrounding areas whilst basking in the sun.
This was a golden opportunity to improve on my green fingers in the garden .
Incredibly there has been more snow dumped on the local mountains when it seemed so barren earlier in the month.
This weather has made this a great opportunity to go hiking , around the Lycian way and taking in the spectacular views.

February 2024

What an incredibly warm February plenty of sun during this month .Lots of opportunities to take day trips to the beach and local surrounding areas whilst basking in the sun. Unfortunately selfishly I was hoping for snow on the local mountains, but I guess we can wait for next month.
This weather has made this a great opportunity to go hiking around the Lycian way and taking in the spectacular views.

January 2024

Here are some beautiful photos of January in different dimensions.

January continued to be an amazing month for the warm and sunny weather. Since the turn of the year the weather and sea has certainly been warm enough for beach days.
In fact at one point during January you could have easily been mistaken for early season due to the warm weather and warm sea plus the amount of families crowding the local beaches.
The stunning views of the snow capped mountains whilst you are lounging around on the beach or in the sea seems somewhat surreal. The sunsets at this time of the year are just spectacular too.
As we approach February the temperature dropped to near as damn it freezing in Ovacik. There were flurries of snow and Babadag mountain was covered in the white stuff.

December 2023

What an incredibly warm and sunny month it’s been. Lots of opportunities to take day trips to the beach and local surrounding areas whilst basking in the sun. Selfishly I was hoping for snow on the local mountains, but I guess we can wait for next month. But this was an opportunity not to miss by white water rafting in Dalyan . What an amazing extreme sport this was and highly recommended.
As it was the build up to Christmas it was tradition to go to the Calis Christmas fair and enjoy the food and drinks on offer.
This weather has made this a great opportunity to go hiking around the mountainous footpaths and take in the spectacular views.
Of course celebrating Christmas has been a great time within this community.
Temperatures on average through December mid 20s but the sea temperature felt much warmer than normal .

PARADISE ☀️

Photos from Journey made of dreams Turkey's post 01/12/2023

November 2023

Probably the most inclement weather I’ve witnessed in October. One day it’s beautiful , sunny and plenty of swimming in the warm sea. The next day it’s torrential downpours , high seas and damage to the beach facilities in Oludeniz. To top it off a tornado was spotted in the Dalaman area.
One thing that always amazes me though is the colour of the sea at this time of the year. It’s an absolutely stunning turquoise colour and you never get bored of the view.
The Wobbly Boat competition in Gocek was a great spectacle despite the early weather setback.
There have been plenty of fabulous walks all around the surrounding scenic coastal areas and countryside, organised by the Wacky Walkers .

October 2023

Probably the busiest month of the year to date . From scuba diving to beautiful sunny beach days & boat trips . I was lucky enough to have an incredible few days on a kayaking trip to Kakova .
The World Air Games was an amazing spectacle and full of colour with daredevil stunts.
The tour de Türkiye cycling race passed through and around the surrounding mountain area . A fabulous trip to Rhodes checking out the ancient ruins and surrounding areas etc . Celebrating Halloween and partying with our friends . Then to top this remarkable month off , watching the celebrations of The 100 year anniversary of the republic of Türkiye 🇹🇷 . This was a remarkable spectacle and an honour to be able to attend the celebrations.

September 2023

Wow what a contrasting month, from the early part of the month with huge tourist congestion to the latter part of the month being pleasant enjoyable to drive around and visit the areas that were virtually no go areas due to the immense traffic and crowds.
The weather has been beautiful but at times too hot and luckily enough as we approach the end of this month the temperature is slowly cooling down.
The sea temperature is very warm and clear , great for scuba diving and snorkelling.
We was lucky enough to have witnessed the appearance of the Blue moon this month.
It’s so pleasurable to drive around and enjoy the scenic views and visit different beaches.
The ACRO games started the end of this month and it was certainly entertaining. This gives us a taster for the World Air Games mid October , don’t miss out .
I’ve certainly enjoyed the different experiences on the mixed and private boat trips from different locations this season.

August 2023

After a scorching June & July i was hoping for a cooler August , unfortunately no such luck.
With Turkish tourist’s flooding the Oludeniz , Calis & Fethyie areas with their cars, this has had an impact on the local roads and causing lots of delays getting to the local beaches .
Due to the heavy traffic jams & queues we decided to travel around and find private beaches and other hidden gems on our scooter.
The boat trips & excursions are also very busy too. We have experienced great opportunities to enjoy private and mixed boat trips & immense fun with the local excursion trips.
There have been so many amazing sunsets this month something you can never get bored watching.

July 2023

The temperature has been rising and has hit the highs of 50 degrees and consistently above the seasonal average. The temperature is in the high 40s and getting warmer each day.
The sea temperature hit over 28 degrees too.
We was lucky enough to travel to Rhodes for a day trip and thoroughly enjoyed the sights & beaches. This was a two hour hydrofoil trip from Fethyie to Rhodes port.
We managed to observe a snippet of the lavender harvesting festival in Uzumlu. The main festival is held in Kuyucak Köyü in the Isparta province .
This month we have had many amazing boat trips from various locations in the Fethyie region and these are a must if you haven’t already booked especially if you are trying to escape from the heat.
We attended the annual charity event SOUL TRAIN with 600 attendees held at Aksazlar beach resort. The four charities had a share of over 52000 lira each. It was such a great event and definitely one for the diary next year.

JUNE 2023

With the temperature rising on a daily basis it’s now in the mid 40s and seems to get warmer by the day.
I’ve tried to stay more local this month but there was opportunities to venture out of the area away from the busy crowds due to the kurban bayramı Turkish holiday. Most places are very difficult to get to during this period.Luckily enough I’ve managed to travel and visit some beautiful places prior to this Turkish holiday period. Places of interest during this month are Tlos ruins in Yakakoy, Saklikent Gorge and river rafting . Boat trips in abundance from Oludeniz,Calis and Fethyie . We was lucky enough to attend a magnificent Turkish wedding in Calis beach. I finally ticked of a place on my bucket list which was the beautiful Q Lounge restaurant in Gocek , it certainly lived up to its reputation with amazing food and stunning views. We traveled to Dalyan and visited the turtle hospital rehabilitation centre. We also visited beaches locally in Koca Çalış , Kidrak and the Kumburu beach on the Blue Lagoon. We have also been lucky enough to enjoy friends and family visiting. There is such a buzz around the area so now is an opportunity to enjoy the amazing restaurants , bars & clubs in Fethiye ,Oludeniz, Calis,Ovacik , Kayakoy & Hisaranou .

A Visit to the ghost town of Kayakoy during an organised walk and admiring the incredible sights was something I would highly recommend.
The highlight of the month though was definitely a trip to a little Greek island of Meis . Plenty of drinking and eating in the quaint little restaurants around the harbour . A speed boat tour to The Blue cave was definitely the highlight of the day I would highly recommended this visit to Meis as a great day out.

What an incredibly warm and sunny month . Lots of opportunities to take day trips to the beach and local surrounding areas whilst basking in the sun.
I’ve even utilised my skills in the garden during this beautiful weather. I managed a visit to our local football team Fethiyespor who coincidentally won 1-0 .
Incredibly there has been more snow dumped on the local mountains when it seemed so barren earlier in the month.

There are some wonderful places to visit in Türkiye in winter, all with special cold-weather activities and magical snowy landscapes.

From ski resorts and winter hot balloon rides to soaking in open-air hot springs, there are plenty of things to do in Turkey in winter.

Wander the streets of Istanbul with the locals, indulge in a soul-warming hammam treatment, hit the slopes or explore far-flung archaeological sites without the crowds.

It might be the off-season, but Türkiye’s coastal towns never lose their sparkle, while the country’s natural wonders take on a new kind of radiance: All frozen lakes, ice-crested mountains and snow-dusted caves.

Winter in Türkiye is a special treat and something you won’t soon forget.

We certainly will not forget the great turnout for the remembrance parade held in Hisaranou.
The annual organised Wobbly Boat competition in GOCEK was a great day out .

October 2022 ,

This has been a whirlwind month, with so many activities from the World Air Games to Turkiye celebrating its 99th anniversary of Republic day, with lots of activities in between.
The tourist season was still as vibrant as it was in the summer especially in Oludeniz.
The beaches were the hype of activity during the air games, continuous boat trips and water sports activities. There have been amazing sunsets during this month. The weather has been continuous sunshine from the 3rd of October to date . Plenty of sunbathing and beach days .
Istanbul certainly was a highlight of the month. From fine-dine and trendy joints with an awesome foodie vibe certainly left my taste buds satisfied.
Finally we finished the month with an awesome Halloween party enjoyed by all.

September 2022

Wow where do I start with this month? Firstly I would like to thank the team who successfully walked up Babadag mountain with me raising a substantial amount of money for a Childrens charity . Congratulations to all who entered the Acro World Cup Ariel acrobatics over Oludeniz. Same as last month the heat has been relentless ,Oludeniz & the Lagoon area have been extremely busy with holiday makers . Unfortunately once again the traffic has been a major issue & hopefully next season there will be different traffic control systems in place for this area. Due to the fact we have had so many friends and family members visiting this year & due to the huge influx of tourists we decided to travel around and find private beaches and other hidden gems to avoid the heavily populated main beaches. The boat trips & excursions are also very busy too. We have experienced great opportunities to enjoy private and mixed boat trips & immense fun with the local excursio trips.
Me personally it’s been an incredibly busy month ,having to take my UK registered vehicle out of Turkey on such short notice came as a shock. The journey back to the UK was a great experience with jaw dropping scenery . Visiting Cesme Turkey & travelling through Greece, Italy stopping off in Rimini , Switzerland , France and stopping off in Lyon then on to Calais through to Kent.

August 2022

After a scorching June & July we was expecting an extremely hot August. Thankfully the temperature has decreased significantly. The tourist’s have flooded the Oludeniz area which has been great for local businesses. The boat trips & excursions are also very busy too. We have experienced great opportunities to enjoy private and mixed boat trips & immense fun with the local excursion trips. Due to the influx of tourists we decided to travel around and find private beaches and other hidden gems .
