Lupus is a complex and poorly understood condition that affects many different parts of the body.

Its symptoms range from mild to life-threatening.

Many people have this condition for a long time without knowing before they get a sudden flare-up.

The symptoms include extreme tiredness, rashes (especially on the face, wrists and hands), joint pain and swelling.

Even mild cases can be distressing and have a big impact on quality of life.

There are several celebrities who have brought awareness to lupus. Here are a few!

Selena Gomez: The pop star has been open about her lupus diagnosis and has used her platform to raise awareness and funds for research.

Lady Gaga: The singer revealed in 2017 that she has lupus and has since spoken about her struggles with the disease and how it has affected her career.

Toni Braxton: The R&B singer was diagnosed with lupus in 2008 and has been an advocate for lupus awareness ever since. She has also written a memoir about her experiences with the disease.

This patient did not know that her teeth could be saved by using composite for the restorations. She was under the assumption that all fillings were done using the "silver or black material".

She was lucky to present just in time as the decay was close to the pulp (nerves).

Interproximal cavities, more popularly known as the cavities in between your teeth, are actually pretty common. They start to form when there is a breakdown of enamel that is caused by bacteria in your mouth.

These cavities are commonly formed when one does not floss regularly.
35% of your  teeth's surface are in between other teeth. If you decide to skip flossing one day, then only two-thirds of your teeth are getting cleaned!

If you notice any dark spots between your teeth, try to seek dental treatment as soon as possible.

Don't wait until the pain becomes unbearable, because the earlier you treat the decaying tooth, the less damage will occur. And the less treatment you will have to receive!

Don’t Be Guided by Pain

Responding to pain is a negative, unhealthy approach to your dental care. If you are only responding to pain, you are more likely to have teeth that are unhealthy and less functional.

And, here’s the thing, you’ll probably pay more to save your teeth. Reactive dental care is much more expensive than preventive dental care.

Your oral health is more important than you might realize.

Did you know that problems in your mouth can affect the rest of your body? Taking care of your oral health is an investment in your overall health.

Many people believe that because infants teeth are temporary, they are not as important as adult’s teeth. Baby teeth are necessary for chewing, speaking and smiling. They also serve as a space holder for the adult teeth.
Parents always ask what age their child should start visiting the dentist. The general rule is about 4 to 6 months after the eruption of the first tooth. So, the typical age a child should start visiting the dentist is around age one.
Toothbrushing should become a routine and should be done twice daily. Children do not have the manual dexterity to brush their teeth effectively until about 7 years of age. However, even after this, children should still be supervised to establish a regular routine and to ensure a good oral health practice. .
Nursing caries is a form of tooth decay that is caused by children sleeping with bottles. This is also called early childhood caries (ECCs). It is caused when a child goes to bed with a bottle filled with milk or juice (anything except water). It usually affects children between the ages of one and two years. Breastfed infants who fall asleep while breastfeeding is also at risk.
If ECCs are left untreated, pain and infection can result. Children who have infected teeth or lost teeth early due ECCs, may develop poor eating habits, speech problems, crooked teeth and damaged adult teeth. .
Frequency of eating has an important effect on teeth. Eating meals leads to periods of acid attack on teeth. It is advised to limit food and snack consumption to five times a day.
Constant sipping on anything besides water is not good for the health of a baby’s new teeth. Acid from the drink may wear down the enamel and de-mineralize teeth, leading to tooth decay. Instead of transitioning from a bottle to a sippy cup, teach your child to drink from an open cup or use a spill-proof straw cup. If you need to offer a sippy cup on occasion that is fine. However, try your best to limit its usage.
