“You are game changers but before you change the game, you must understand the game. 👏🏽Welcome another generation of youth leaders to the environmental sector 👏🏽

On 13 August 2023 five incredible young leaders completed the Summer mentorship program better equipped to handle the rigors of school and the world of work.

Over 10 weeks, the 2023 cohort worked closely with consultants from Advisors Next Door to build the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to thrive in the Caribbean’s competitive environmental sector. Their experience culminated in an intensive capstone with The Cropper Foundation to analyze over 1200 survey responses to inform the IDB-funded “Catalyzing and Connecting the Circular Economy” project. This seminal analysis will support private sector investment into a zero-waste circular economy in Trinidad and Tobago.

Mentees received special prizes for their Herculean efforts during the program. Special recognition was also given to The Cropper Foundation for being a long-standing partner of the program, and Deanna Albert for her outstanding leadership of this year’s Academy.

Climate Analytics Caribbean has launched “Islands All In for the Global Stocktake 2023”, a campaign to increase public engagement, partnership, and advocacy as countries measure and assess progress towards their climate targets.

The Global Stocktake ( ) is an integral part of the Paris Agreement that assesses the collective progress countries have made to implement the Paris Agreement and achieve the long-term goals on mitigation and adaptation, and finance. The GST will be the first official assessment of and will help countries establish more ambitious national targets known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

At the launch attendees engaged with climate champions and ambassadors including Rueanna Haynes, Director of Climate Analytics Caribbean, Kishan Kumarsingh, Head of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Development, and Kalain Luke Hosein, Multimedia journalist and official Ambassador.

AND Senior Consultant and Sustainability Manager, Deanna Albert, supported the call to advocacy. “There are significant gaps in implementing action towards our NDCs, and in the ambition of our NDCs to limit the heating up of our planet within the Paris Agreement targets. Campaigns like the IAi4GST are critical for building the social and political momentum needed to tackle bottlenecks to that stop us from closing the gaps. We must come together and have sobering conversations about where we are, where we want to go, an how we are going to get there. Through diverse and wide spread partnerships and the use of visual, inspiring video, Rueanna and her team are moving the needle on this important but often overlooked issue.”

Advisors Next Door, as a climate focused firm, stands ever ready to support innovative and critical work like this.
