I am currently the General No. 1 Cadet Officer, charged with the official leadership responsibility of the daily coordination and supervision for the purpose of orderliness and proper conduct amongst all Cadet Officers under training. Also appointed alongside with me are other Cadet Officers to ease and enhance efficient accountability, orderliness and coordination amongst Cadets under training. The training program is this unique, because it offers each Cadet under training the opportunity to have access to interdisciplinary learning experience embedded in both Police Professional Training, such as Intelligence and Security Studies, Legal Studies, Field Training and Liberal Studies, as well as the Cadet chosen specialized academic field of study. In addition, the training is strictly based on the doctrines of discipline, regimentation, professionalism and patriotism. Currently, I am majoring in both Faculty of Law and Police Professional Training. Therefore, with high sense of humility and gratitude to God Almighty, I wish to say I am highly privileged to experience the elite training in the Nigeria Police Academy.

Brief History

The Academy officially took off simultaneously in 1988 at two temporary campuses; the Police training school Challawa, Kano where cadet Inspectors were trained; and the Police College Kaduna, where cadet ASPs were trained.

The two campuses were merged and relocated to its permanent site in Wudil, Kano, after it was formerly Commissioned on the 2nd April 1996, by then Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Armed forces, General Sani Abacha, GCON, DSS, mni., with the expectation that the Academy will be affiliated to a University for degree awarding courses.

In the year 2012, the Federal Government of Nigeria upgraded the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil- Kano State, to a degree-awarding institution, and the National Universities Commission, accordingly, recognized the Academy as the thirty-seven (37th) Federal University and the one hundred and twenty fourth ( 124th) University in Nigeria. Academy activities commenced in September 2012.
