Women’s empowerment has five components: women’s sense of self-worth; their right to have and to determine choices; their right to have access to opportunities and resources; their right to have power to control their own lives, both within and outside the home; and their ability to influence the direction of social change to create a more just social and economic order, nationally and international.

We are thrilled to announce the commencement of Phase IV of the Smart Life project, a pivotal initiative dedicated to empowering young girls through comprehensive training programs. This phase is designed to focus on essential skill development, with a primary emphasis on tailoring, salon services, and makeup artistry. Our vision for this phase extends beyond conventional training, as we aspire to establish a dedicated tailoring hub where girls can access continuous learning opportunities.

The cornerstone of Phase IV lies in providing girls with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in various entrepreneurial ventures. Tailoring, salon, and makeup training are not just vocational skills; they are pathways to economic independence and self-sufficiency. By nurturing these talents, we aim to cultivate a generation of young women who can confidently contribute to their communities and break through societal barriers.

Furthermore, our commitment extends beyond vocational training to encompass critical aspects of personal well-being. The inclusion of s*xual and reproductive health education ensures that participants are equipped with essential knowledge to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives. This holistic approach addresses the multifaceted needs of young girls, promoting both professional and personal growth.

The establishment of a tailoring hub represents a tangible commitment to providing a conducive and accessible space for learning. This hub will serve as a dynamic center where girls can immerse themselves in training at any time, fostering a continuous and supportive learning environment. We believe that such a dedicated space will not only enhance skill development but also foster a sense of community and collaboration among participants.

As we embark on this exciting journey, we are confident that Phase IV will be a transformative chapter for the Smart Life project. By investing in the education and empowerment of young girls, we are not only realizing our dreams but also creating a positive ripple effect that will contribute to the overall progress of society. Together, we look forward to witnessing the incredible impact that these empowered young women will undoubtedly make in their communities and beyond

Last year, in 2023, the Star Foundation Organization had the opportunity to participate in a conference addressing climate change issues. The event was led by Madam Sophia, the Director of Women's Voice, along with environmental stakeholders in the Mwanza region and its surroundings. The primary objective of the conference was to ensure that the efforts of policymakers, decision-makers, and resource allocators incorporate gender considerations in policies, plans, and strategies related to climate change. The aim was to ensure that all groups, including women and men, are involved, contribute, and benefit from initiatives and efforts to address climate change. This approach emphasized the importance of recognizing the diverse needs, responsibilities, and contributions of both genders in sustainable development efforts. The overarching goal was to integrate gender perspectives into climate change policies and actions, fostering inclusivity and ensuring that all segments of society can actively participate and derive benefits from climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives.
