Classy lilac

Lilacs have been cultivated for over 500 years and during that time they have evolved into many varieties, each with its own shape, scent and colour.

Some varieties are frost hardy and can comfortably tolerate temperatures of up to 60 degrees below zero.

Lilacs do not tolerate dark places, so choose a sunny and wind-protected spot.

According to one ancient belief, this flower indicates the length of winter. If the lilac blooms, it means that the cold days have passed and winter has receded.
