The new life of ancient images... Created in ancient times is actualized now... Or maybe it exists beyond time?

History is able to convey a message through fashion. Designer Hélène Litorelle’s collaboration with the Treasury of the National History Museum of Ukraine allowed to give her most famous exhibit – the Scythian pectoral – new possibilities of expression, namely through accessories: a silk scarf and twilli. After all, the parallel between the brave Scythians and modern Ukrainian warriors is palpable now more than ever... We are infinitely grateful to the Treasury and are proud that in this way we contributed to the popularization of the pectoral not only in Ukraine, but also in the world.

We are also grateful to the OLOS Patronage Foundation for the largest contribution to fundraising for the specialized publication “The Mysterious World of the Pectoral”. The book of the Tresury  has already been published and tells in detail in Ukrainian and English about the crown of the museum collection. We are happy that Hélène Litorelle had the honor of contributing to the modern reinterpretation of the pectoral and its perception today.

In the world of princesses sometimes there is a lack of real hero. Any girl, fairy or manager, dreams of someone kind and brave.

Scarves 42cmx42cm, which will be a beautiful accent for both men and women. The skarves are made of 100% silk twill and hand hemmed.

The theme of the drawings is the Hero’s Path. The enchanted forest in the fairy tale-legend, of which the Hunter becomes a hostage, symbolizes the unconscious, hidden fears and insurmountable weaknesses. It is they who prevent us from moving along the path determined by fate.
The stork that rescues the hero from the trap of the forest and returns him to his beloved is the power of the human spirit, the will that at the right moment helps to master the situation and, by combining the conscious and unconscious, acquire integrity, and therefore become a Personality.
The atmosphere of the town of Rust, famous for its storks, which live on the roofs of almost every house, breathed life into the symbols on the twill. In addition, the town is surrounded by vineyards, which makes it a center of wine production for hundreds of years.
It was the family winery that filled the fairy tale with magical wine, and the drawings and, accordingly, prints on skarves - with grape leaves.

The prints on the scarves are inspired by medieval tapestries and created by Hélène Litorelle based on the fairy tale «Hunter and the Grape Fairy», written by the legendator Oksana Gontkovska.

The collection consists of the women’s scarf 90cx90cm and two scarves 42cmx42cm, which will be a beautiful accent for both men and women. The skarves are made of 100% silk twill and hand hemmed.

We present a new capsule collection of scarves, the inspiration of which is the Austrian countess from the town of Rust (Burgenland, Austria).

Article in Kyiv Post about collaboration with the Treasury of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in Kyiv. In the center of the scarf is the masterpiece – the golden pectoral, which belonged to a Scythian ruler more than two thousand years ago. This decoration is the Scythian universe, recreated by ancient masters.

Elements of Scythian jewelry and an image of a Scythian sword are also used on the scarf. Together, these symbols affirm the victory of life over death in the eternal duel that encompasses the world.

In the center of this scarf by Hélène Litorelle is an image of the legendary Scythian pectoral of the 4th century BC from the mound of Tovsta Mohyla in Dnipropetrovsk region. The indicated male chest ornament made of pure gold belonged to a Scythian ruler. It is the Scythian universe, recreated by ancient masters. Probably, life and death, their interdependence, their eternal movement is the main theme embedded in the images of the pectoral. The harnesses separating the tiers are like a continuous thread of being. Next to the pectoral is a sword in a golden scabbard from a mound near the village of Velika Bilozerka in Zaporizhzhia. The scabbard is decorated with imprinted images of animals and a scene of a lion and a fantastic creature of a griffin attacking a deer. Golden scabbards of Scythian swords of this form are known from the 5th–4th centuries BC, however, this sample has its own characteristics. In particular, ancient masters depicted a boar's head on the work. It probably symbolizes either the Scythian god of war or a ritual sacrifice in his honor.
Elements of Scythian decorations in the corners of the scarf are used in a different cultural context, related to the symbolism of the tetramorph. It is about mythological creatures that personify the four sides of the world.
The scarf was created in collaboration with the Treasury of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine - all depicted Scythian objects are kept in its collection. Together, the mentioned symbols affirm the victory of life over death in the eternal duel that encompasses the world.
Nowadays, when Ukraine is fighting against Russian invaders, the masterpieces of the Scythians support and inspire faith in the future.

Silk Scarves with Symbols of the Legendary Pectoral
Pectoral, which belonged to the Scythian aristocrat in the 4th century BC, is the significant artistic masterpiece from Ukraine. This men’s breastplate represents the Scythian universe, recreated by ancient masters. The artefact is held in the Treasury of the National Museum of History of Ukraine.
More than a thousand explorations have been made about the plots from three tiers of 23-carat gold jewelry. Probably, life and death, their interdependence, their eternal movement are the main themes embedded in the images of the pectoral. And the plaits that separate the tiers are like a continuous thread of life.
