If first aid is given by a well trained person it can save a life and the reverse is true. Seek first aid skills before you become the only person available in an emergency.

Day 1 of our first aid training at DAS Aviation school. We did CPR and recovery position with cabin crew students to prepare them for any emergencies that may arise in their line of duty.

First aid skills are essential in our daily operations and everyone needs them to save their loved ones and clients in case of any emergency.

We engaged medical responders, lifeguards and the community in an evacuation procedure simulation of drowning victims. With a proper chain of response we can save more lives after a rescue. Now the community of Jinja can rescue a victim, give CPR and call for an evacuation.

Most fatalities caused by drowning are a result of poor or no CPR after a rescue.
Happening now! Community CPR training
We thank Uganda red cross, Tweyambe Emergency Services, Black Marines and our partners Life Saving Association Uganda who fully made this day fruitful to the community of Jinja.

In communities around Lake Victoria 1/5 people know how to swim, these communities are prone to water. You never know when you will use water transport or fall in the deep end of a swimming pool. Come train with us every weekend 2pm at Entebbe Botanical gardens for free.

Drowning is silent, quick and 100% preventable, yet itโ€™s a leading cause of injury-related death in children and adults. Our training seek to create a generational shift in how water safety education is discussed and shared between parents, children, and beyond.
Drowning has no gender or age, our training involved girls and boys at Bugonga landing site as drowning cases are rampant in this community.

Here at GLSS we have looked around the world for organisations we can respect and learn from. One such organisation is Pakistan Life Saving. They are not yet 20 years in existence, but they are one of the most creative water safety and lifeguarding non-profit organisations. They manufacture their own equipment to save costs and create jobs, they run small tourism activities to generate steady income, and they partner with government agencies and NGOs.

Have a look at their amazing website www.pals.pk

Like GLSS, Pakistan Life Saving (PALS) had support in its early days from the team at Pacific Lifeguard Systems. If we can make GLLS even half as fantastic as PALS we will be hugely successful.

Thanks to the teams at PALS for showing us that we can achieve our dreams, and thanks for the team at Pacific Lifeguard Systems for setting us on the right path.

Hi and welcome to the new page for Great Lakes Life Saving. We are based in Entebbe, Uganda but we are active right across Uganda and also Kenya and Tanzania because we share borders across the huge and magnificent Lake Victoria (the world's second largest lake!). We also work with our water safety friends in all East and Central Africa countries.

We are trained lifeguards, water safety instructors, some SCUBA trained for underwater search and recovery, and many of us are trained in emergency first aid.

Our focus is on drowning prevention through water safety education, and training lifeguards for pools and beaches. But we also work with governments and NGOs to create water safety programmes and standards, and we fundraise for equipment and training costs.

We have many organisations we are working with closely and we will introduce you to these in coming days and weeks.

Please support us - like us and follow us here in Facebook, and please share this page with your friends.
