Learn more about us in this short clip 💞
We would like to take a moment to really and truly appreciate a very special organisation for all they have done in the Fight Against Women's Cancer! They have truly gone above and beyond:
Busoga Forestry has since 2020 - i.e for the last 3 years - supported RHHJ in the fight against women's cancer. The first proposal in October 2020 was Improved access to Early Diagnosis and Treatment of cervical cancer in Busoga Region with Special Attention to Mayuge District. This project was funded with $8,000.
Only 9 months later in July 2021, Busoga Forestry again supported the work of RHHJ this time for addressing the challenges of COVID-19 - this time also with focus on cervical and breast cancer in Mayuge District. mainly for food, transport of sick people and re-usable diapers . This time with $10,000
In March 2022 Busoga Forestry gave $10,000 towards "Providing Awareness, Screening and Care for Women's Cancers in Mayuge District". This project was given an extra $5000 in August 2022.
Altogether, Busoga Forestry has given $33,000 to RHHJ towards the Fight Against Women's Cancer.
They were the first local organization to focus on this huge problem for women in the rural areas of Busoga. We hope other companies will get inspired to do similar - there are many women in the work force - and for so many reasons we need them to be healthy and strong!
Busoga Forestry is our main sponsor and partner in the Fight Women's Cancer 2022 Event! We can't wait to see you all there 💕
Did you know that since 2018, RHHJ has screened 4553 women for cervical cancer? 7.4% of who tested positive for precancerous cells. That's 328 women who had the opportunity to get treated right there and then to prevent them from immense suffering! That's what your support for this event does! Don't forget to sign up! Providing Hope to the Hopeless
‘Poor people in all parts of the world live and die with little or no palliative care or pain relief. Staring into this access abyss, one sees the depth of extreme suffering in the cruel face of poverty and inequity.(The Lancet Commission Report “Alleviating the access abyss to palliative care.” October, 2017)
Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja has provided palliative care for patients with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses since 2005 in the Busoga Region and Buikwe District in Uganda. Most of our clients are bedridden, so care is done at their homes. Our teams of dedicated nurses, social workers, clinicians and drivers go deep into the far corners or some of the poorest areas on the planet everyday on scheduled, regular visits as many of these people’s last hope. We help our patients live every day that they have left without pain or needless suffering. In addition to palliative and hospice care, we have developed a holistic and comprehensive program which addresses not only their physical health needs, but also their emotional, spiritual and social needs. Today, we reach over 700 terminally ill patients with pain relief and symptom management throughout the Busoga Region. We have, however, expanded our program to include management not only of the terminally ill, but also to treatment support for those who have a hope of healing, cervical and breast cancer screenings, counselling, school fees support, food support, shelter, bereavement support and mattress and bedding support in order to comprehensively help as many people as we can through our program. The reality is that illness affects not only the person afflicted by it, but the whole community around them - most especially their immediate families and children - and we want to alleviate the burden of illness on as many people as we can.
