Beautiful Uganda šŗš¬
Captured these hippos in Kazinga National Park now known as Queen Elizabeth National Park. Hippos are large semi aquatic mammals. They spend most of the day in water and come to land at night! They are also very territorial and unpredictable!
They are always amazing to watch!
An inquisitive male waterbuck in Murchison Falls National Park. The waterbuck is one of those animals you just want to look at! Waterbucks are sedentary in nature and canāt deal with dehydration.
The Rothschild's giraffe, a subspecies of the northern giraffe is one of the most endangered distinct populations of giraffe.
As of 2018, itās classified as near threatened. This is due to habitat destruction. Uganda hosts the only natural remaining population of close to 1,000 of the 2,500 Rothschildās giraffes in the world(Murchison Falls National Park) The rest are in small populations reintroduced in parks in Kidepo Valley and Lake Mburo and in conservancies in Kenya.
Did you know that elephants in Uganda have as of 2015 increased by 600% which is about 5000 individuals from a low of 700-800 in the 1980ās. The authorities still face a problem of poaching but have done a great great job.
Personally I believe itās key to involve the communities surrounding the national parks as much as possible in conversation.
The Sad Victory
Iāll just start the story from the near end! and I had searched for lions for some hours and even done a very late and nerve racking evening drive into the night only to see a leopard which was as shocked as we were to sight it. Instead of pulling out my camera I froze and it smoothly disappeared into the darkness. We also sighted some hyenas, buffalo and antelopes but not the lions we eagerly wanted.
Early in the morning, I was at Prosperās door ready to go get the lionsā¦..The rest were done with this mission. We drove for hours again with no sighting. The frustration got to us and we were running on fumes of hope taking turn after turn. Just as we were about to give in, I saw so many vultures flying around a certain place and many more on the ground. I said to Prosper, thereās definitely something down there. We stopped and all I expected was a carcass. Prosper was more determined than a frustrated photographerā¦..he spotted something moving through his binoculars. He pointed it out to me and it was a queen of the jungle. We were excited. Finally we had got our lion sightingā¦..We quickly realized she was in some sort of trouble because thereās no way sheād be sun bathing in that heat. It was very sad to watch her trying to stand (slide 2) but she couldnāt clearly in pain and very weak. We believe she was struck by the buffalo (slide3) that theyād killed. The victory of finding a lion was not the one weād hoped for but thatās nature for you. We informed the rangers who assured us that she be given medical attention.
It was still an amazing moment for us to find it. It hits different when you find it on your own without a guide!
The Cape buffalo. These you will find in plenty across Uganda. Weighing between 600-900kgs, they can be quite dangerous if bothered! They are quite fascinating to observe. I captured this particular one in Murchison Falls National Park. One later tried to charge at us but we drove off quick enough! I always canāt help but compare them to cattleā¦.!
Sunset in Kabalega Falls National Park, Uganda.
Itās one of the most beautiful Iāve seen! Couldnāt get enough of it!
This male olive baboon wasnāt shy at all but wasnāt aggressive either! He just watched us as we observed the group he probably was heading! Managed to capture him just still in thoughts maybe!
Looks like this waterbuck was happy to see her friend! This beautiful antelope is native to Africa and they are easily identifiable! They are not high on the list of lionsā prey because on an oily secretion thatās not tasty!
Captured this in Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda.
Another set of twin lakes in Bunyaruguruā¦.Lake Katinda and Lake Murambi! The views there are just amazing! Itās a place you shouldnāt miss when in the area!

A stroll in the park!
@ Kidepo Valley National Park
I opened my door to see what was happening....this is all my eyes could see. To think that we were in the middle of a national park with wild animals roaming around, that was enough to keep me inside. That short distance to the fireplace could be my last....thatās what my imagination told me haha. Well.....welcome to Kidepo Valley National Park. The next day we found two male lions and and lioness not so far away š³š„¶š±
One of the most beautiful sightings is a mother and their child. Here at Murchison Falls National Park, we met a mother elephant and her calf. It can also be a dangerous situation if a safe distance is not maintained. The bond between the two is so clear and very strong. It was an amazing moment.

Bumped into these majestic Kings while at Kidepo Valley National Park
We found these two close......actually uncomfortably close to the UWA bandas š
Still took nothing away from the excitement we had!
There are approximately 132 lions that particular park.

At about 14,500 ft above sea level. (Ps. Choppers averagely fly at 10,000 ft and Cessnas, 13000-15000ft)
This here was Day 5, that tent at Irene lakes camp was our home for the final night before we summited. The view there was just breathtaking!

This is a view of Mt. Speke from Irene lakes camp where we spent our night for the final push to summit Margherita. We woke up at 2am....yes 2am, started our climb at 3am and go to the top at around 1:30pm.
All this aside, just look at the beautiful sunset.
I go above and beyond for my craft for example; climbing Mt Rwenzori for 7days with not much thought about how tasking it would be. I was driven by the desire to document and showcase Ugandaās beauty!!
Heās a short story about a man in Uganda that decided to climb a high voltage line and stay there for about 4 hours in extreme heat.
He climbed to the first level at which he demanded to see Hon Kyagulanyi then proceeded to the top where he remained for hours.
The crowd grew, some encouraging him to jump to his death, others offering him money to come down, others praying, many pulling out their phones hoping to get a video of him falling to his death.
I happened to have my camera and just kept shooting.....hoping I donāt have to capture a young man being roasted. I wasnāt ready.
I was so relieved when he decided to climb back down on his own after the police and military arrived.
