"Lake Victoria is the second largest freshwater body in the world and supports a human population of over 30 million. Over the last 4 decades, the biodiversity of the lake and its catchment has been compromised. The indigenous fish species variety has reduced by 80%, and over 70% of the forest cover in the catchment has been lost. "

Lake Victoria’s basin has fertile soils with a climate that supports cash crops such tea and coffee and food crops such as beans, maize and bananas. Most industrial expansion in the African Great Lakes region is in the Lake Victoria basin. Some minerals, such as gold, are mined in the lake basin. Several tourism destinations exist on islands and shorelines, and there is potential for sport fishing, boating, and cruising safaris.
Centre for Green Cities" C4G" wishes Ochero Dickenz a happy birthday.

Uganda police exposed always, last week Uganda police escorted the UNSA students who where demonstrating against EU parliament involvement in the issues of the EACOP and they tabled the petition at EU office in Kampala without any student been arrested but today when University student's from different institute where marching in a peaceful demonstration against stop EACOP project in Uganda, the so called Uganda police had to arrest this students who are fighting for the rights of our environment and human being who have been manipulated by our so called greedy Leaders. Meanwhile we urge the police to Free this students. the pro Stop EACOP project now. #
Shame on UNSA and the political leaders plus the head teachers who organized students to participate in today's demonstration ignorantly without understanding the all situation of the EACOP project with it's negative effect on our environment and human lives.
