Uganda Baati is thrilled to share groundbreaking news!

We've formalized a transformative Memorandum of Understanding with Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) under Safal Uganda Baati Foundation, kickstarting a significant tree-planting initiative. This impactful agreement, inked during the PSFU’s 27th Annual General Meeting at Kampala Serena Hotel, solidifies our joint commitment to fortifying resilience against climate change and environmental risks.

Our main objective in this strategic partnership is to establish a robust framework for collaborative action, focusing specifically on an expansive tree-planting initiative. This initiative is designed not only to offset the impacts of climate change but also to cultivate a sustainable environment conducive to thriving business practices.

The tree-planting initiative exemplifies the effectiveness of public-private collaborations in addressing urgent environmental issues through our CSI pillar – Environment.

Expressing our gratitude for this momentous collaboration, Ian Rumanyika, Head of External & Corporate Affairs, highlights, "This collaboration with PSFU signifies our promise to forging a sustainable future. Drawing from our background of nurturing various forest reserves nationwide, Uganda Baati is leveraging its extensive experience and unwavering dedication in this tree-planting exercise. Our aim is to create a positive environmental impact while fostering a business environment that ensures prosperity for future generations."

A weekend well spent!

Members of our team had the opportunity to visit Watoto's Ssubi village, in Mpigi district as a benchmarking exercise for excellent vocational training in Uganda.

In alignment with our plan to put up the Safal Uganda Baati Vocational Institute in Tororo, we had the opportunity to experience the Hope Vocational and Technical Institute which will have similar learning programmes aimed at equipping those who live and work in our communities with the necessary skills to create a brighter future for themselves. Similar to the Watoto Hope Vocational Institute, the SAFAL Uganda BAATI Foundation Vocational Institute will offer disadvantaged young men and women the opportunity to acquire skills that will enable them to participate sustainably in the workforce in order to support themselves and their families.

Another highlight of the visit was the opportunity to engage with the children of the shelter, the orphanage arm of the village where rescued and abandoned babies aged 0-2 years are given a second chance at life through the provision of housing and loving family environment.

We at Uganda Baati would like to express our gratitude to Watoto church for their dedication to building Uganda’s future through their commitment to the betterment of the country’s youth.
