Look one group exhibition - 4th Edith Opening 20th April , 3:00pm #Meettheartist Aya Babiker is a visual artist, born in 1998 from Sudan. She graduated from the Sudan University of Science and Technology, College of Fine and Applied Arts in 2022. She participated in many group exhibitions in Sudan and Kenya. She also had her first solo exhibition, “MirageTrails ” in Khartoum in 2023. She currently resides in Cairo . Her works are inspired by her surroundings and her experience in daily life. For her, nature represents the contradiction and entanglement in life, between calm and chaos, safety and fear, displacement and stability, and between the present and nostalgia for memories of the past, using bold, vibrant brush strokes, different textures, and interwoven lines that reflect life. And its Complexities .

This form of expression has provided a space within which I can tell my story through the fluidity and playfulness that is hand lettering . I represent different of myself in my work including introspection, curiosity and spirituality.

Look one - 4th Edition Opening 20th April 2024, 3:00pm #Meettheartist Amani Azhari 26 years old visual artist from Sudan, received her bachelor’s in fine and Applied Arts in 2022 from University of Sudan and participated in numerous internal exhibitions in her home country. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Fine and Applied Arts from the University of Sudan in 2022, she ventured to Kampala, Uganda. Continuing her artistic journey through residencies and exhibitions, she has recently been painting from her studio in Nairobi, Kenya. Amani finds inspiration in girls' sessions, where they express their thoughts and experiences in a society that often silences them with numerous restrictions. Through these sessions, she shares blame, fears, and even beautiful sentiments that are difficult to disclose publicly. Utilizing girls as a fundamental element in her expression, she draws from her personal features to strengthen her message.

Kantono Esther is a painter living and practicing her artistry in Entebbe Uganda. She holds a bachelor's degree of Industrial and fine arts from Makere university. She draws inspiration from African traditional narratives concerning women in society. She intertwines these basic narratives with her personal life experiences together with stories of other women around her ; using mixed media such as Acrylics, oil paint and waste found materials which she manipulates to create exquisite art forms. #9th March Opening from 3pm

Nantongo Olivia Mary @nantongooliviamary is a self taught conceptual photographer who uses her body/self as a muse to portray surreal moments of her life, shows what she goes through in her day to day life occurrences. Each of her images show what she goes through as a human being battling with life's challenges. She prefers to use herself as a model, places herself in any random situation that she goes through as a human, she places herself in that situation because she feels it, she knows how it feels to be depressed, to be anxious, to feel lost, to feel unworthy, empty, sad, fake happy, to have a box of mixed emotions all wrapped in one with a ribbon on it. For each and every photograph that she take, it represents what she goes through as a person, to show that she is not perfect, she has her break downs and it takes time for her to get back on her feet and survive this. #9th March #embracingheressence

Nabwami Mary Assumpta @ganda_the_artist is a graduate of Makerere school of Art. Nicole Remus is a self taught visual artist , Curator and Graduate Architect from Jinja, Uganda. Nicole's work has transitioned into mixed media and now lens media. Nicole's practice can be defined as experimental with a central theme of identity. Through her work she tries to understand the human psyche and what makes us who we are. She creates figurative abstracts using a photo manipulation , photography as well as paint on various media such as canvas, stone, and glass.
