Qn: Can antibiotics be used to treat or prevent COVID-19 disease.

Ans: No. COVID-19 is a viral infection, antibiotics are only effective against bacterial infections. In severe cases of the disease however, the patient may develop bacterial infections such as Pneumonia in which case the attending Physician can decide to use antibiotics.

1 new case confirmed for COVID-19 out of the 625 samples tested today. A 38 year old Ugandan male, cargo transporter who arrived from Kenya via Malaba on 12/04/2020. As of today, Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 stand at 55 in Uganda plus 8 discharges for COVID-19, to-date. Active cases are 47. The Ministry of Health has reported.
