As part of our mission to observe the Kenyan Presidential Election slated for Tuesday, I was glad today to meet with and interact with Presidential Candidate Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. Another part of our team yesterday met with Presidential Candidate William Ruto. Wishing the great people of Kenya a free, fair, credible and peaceful election.

We have paid a visit to our comrades who have now spent over 13 months on remand at Kitalya Prison. Out of the team of over 30, we have been allowed to see only four: Kalanzi Sharif, Bukenya 'Wiser' Moses, Ssekitoleko 'Machete' Yasin and Rashid Ssegujja. These comrades are fairly strong but deeply disturbed by the long time they have spent in detention without trial.
Except Bukenya Moses who last appeared in Court on 31st August 2021, the rest of the comrades are returning to Court this coming Monday. They are battling trumped-up charges in the Military Court Martial relating to wearing the red berets and terrorism.
I have encouraged them to remain hopeful and assured them of our unwavering commitment to the struggle, as well as to seeing them regain their freedom.
