While cultural and society beliefs in the communities served by CONECE dictate that when a girl gets pregnant, she should be married off to the perpetrator because she has lost her chance. CONECE advocates for such girls to be given another chance to be taken back to school

we give adolescent mothers a second chance to return to school through payment of school fees, economic empowerment to their guardians, provision of scholastic materials, counseling and psycho social support, training in life planning skills and SRHR

Persons with disabilities particularly women and teenage mothers being empowered economically with small business enterprises to enable them live independent lives and avoid dependency syndrome.

Equipping local leaders and parents with the right information on SRHR and children rights helps them understand and be able to disseminate the right information to their children and communities.

The deep rooted discrimination in the society has blocked their movement to get education, skill training, and adopting family planning measures. The gender violence and case of r**e incidences, harassment, has further restricted their movement in the development processes.

Causes of teenage pregnancy in Busoga region is attributed to patriarchal attitudes and societal beliefs about gender roles, Parents do not play an active role in guiding their children, especially about SRH, poverty and Limited support services at community level.

Raising community awareness the needs and rights of people with disabilities as some members mistake it to be a curse.

Provision of assistive devices, eases mobility of those with physical disability to be live an independent life

Through the awareness workshops, we noted that most communities in Busoga region have little knowledge about the rights and the needs of people with disabilities and community members mentioned that they were mistreating those with disabilities out of ignorance with a misconception that disability is a curse to victim and their families.

The two-year school lock-down COVID-19 related closure in Uganda from 2020 to 2021 as a measure by government to control the spread of corona virus, led to a spike in adolescent/teenage pregnancies of up to 30% in Busoga region.
1. There is need for actors to focus on enhancing the economic and social resilience of adolescent/teenage mothers and their households through entrepreneurial and vocational training especially for those that will not return to school.
2. Respond to unique needs of school going teenage pregnant and/or breastfeeding girls and foster a safeguarding culture through training school children and teachers on child rights, S*x and Gender Based Violence and S*xual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
3. create awareness on the risky sexual behaviors among young people that exposes them to unwanted pregnancies and early marriage as a way of equipping them with knowledge on S*xual Reproductive Health and life skills

in Uganda, Most of the Women and girls in rural areas spend a large part of their day collecting fuelwood, which translates not only into perpetuating poverty and inequality but also into lost opportunities for education and remunerated labor. Lack of access to energy is an obstacle to women’s and girls’ well-being and economic opportunities, as it strongly affects their living conditions and time-use, and undermines their educational and economic opportunities.

The key strategy that CONECE applies in program interventions is the stop, look and listen in the middle of families, neighborhoods, communities and entire country to notice the challenges and then address the needs and challenges affecting people through advocacy, community mobilization and sensitization, training, community participatory planning, provision of grants to identified beneficiaries, establishment and or referrals to rehabilitation centers and micro enterprise development.

In it's daily work, CONECE focuses on efforts of facilitating Empowerment of marginalized persons particularly girls, women, older persons and people with disabilities to be able to deal with pressing socio-economic issues that affect their day to day wellbeing.
