Recognition of prior learning is the new way

Being an assessor with us is different from that of D.I.T.
When a Jua-kali Candidate logs into our system and needs certification in a given trade, they will be given a registration number, say 001B. They will then be advised on the nearest TVET center Where they be assessed by a JUPA registered assessor to confirm whether they have the necessary experience and Skills set for the certification they require basing on D.I.T 's A.T.P's.
The assessor's intention is to identify any Skills gaps during the interview and work observation of the RPL Candidate after which the assessor will generate and print a report showing the competencies and gaps (if any) and send it to theTVET institution.
The institution will conduct short term training for the Candidate if need be and finally present the Candidate to D.I.T for testing and eventual certification.
so you see, there are 2 assessors doing different tasks to ensure that Govt recognises the Skills of those already skilled and help them improve their lives.

They will then be allowed to SIGNUP as candidate and assigned an online skills APPRAISER to collect evidence to confirm whether they have the necessary Skills set for the certification they require basing on D.I.T 's A.T.P's.
The appraiser's intention is to identify any Skills gaps (if any) during the observation of the RPL Candidate after which he/she will generate two sharable and printable reports
1. showing the candidate's competencies( RTT certificate ) and
2. A skills gaps report (if the candidate is found to have any).
NB. Where necessary, the participating institution will conduct short term training for the Candidate and finally present the Candidate to D.I.T for testing and eventual certification.
