On January 1, 2023 all state employees and retirees will have a new prescription plan if it’s up to LA Commissioner Jay Dardenne. He signed a contract with a pharmacy benefits manager (also known as a PBM, a company that will manage pharmacy benefits for the state of LA).
The contract will limit your choices of where you fill your prescriptions. Why? Because it’s a contract that pays community (independent) pharmacies below cost of the medication. Independent pharmacies cannot absorb these losses and will be forced to not accept this plan.
Watch this video to see Rep. Blake Miguez talking to Jay Dardenne about this contract. And PLEASE call your legislators to stop this. Independent pharmacists are fighting, but at this point the real difference will be YOU.
