Why should you consider adding borate to your pool chemical list?
1. Stablize pH. The main purpose for using borate in a swimming pool is for easy maintenance, since it works to stabilize pH in order to avoid pH-related problems like corrosion.
2. Prevents Algae. Since borates keep pH under control, the effectiveness of chlorine will not be tampered with, and this means that algae will not thrive in your water.
3. Reduces chlorine usage. Since free chlorine is not consumed at a high rate when pH is stable, you will not have to shock your pool often.
4. Makes sparkling and soft water. When you use borate, the water will remain clear for a long period since chloramine (or combined chlorine) does not form quickly as compared to a pool without a borate agent. Most borate agents available on the market today have chlorine stabilizer in them (cyanuric acid) which keeps chlorine from being consumed by UV light from direct sunlight. They also contain components that help to soften hard water that causes dry skin and red and itchy eyes.

From the summer of 1997 when John first started installing pools, he quickly developed the Statewide Pools brand and uncovered a dream of owning a storefront to serve their customers. This dream became reality in 2016 when the duo officially placed their Statewide Pools mark on Google Maps located at 5465 S. 1st Street in Abilene, TX.
John & Minerva have four children between them, 2 grandchildren and are patiently awaiting the arrival of their 3rd! Both John and Minerva are native to Abilene and truly share a passion for bringing a place of fun and relaxation to their fellow Abilenians and beyond.
