I sure do enjoy serving our community!

Here’s part of a “big for me” drywall job I’ve been working on for a great family. I’m proud of the way this patch worked out! Can’t wait until it’s painted and the homeowners get their final look🎉!

I love what I get to do for families in and around Abilene! I have been called to do such a variety of work and each job is a unique opportunity for me.

I have a list of roughly 20 jobs I am working on, some small and some pretty big.

If you’ve reached out to me for help, thank you! Please feel free to write me to check in on progress. If you have a sensitive timeline for the job you need done I’m happy to hear about that as well.

I also want to make sure I communicate that Handydan is a part-time venture for me. I work full-time at Hendrick Home for Children. I generally work on the weekends, early mornings, and late evenings. If I seem a little slower than the average bear, that’s probably why. 🙂

-Installing single-sided deadbolts on front and back doors.
-Repairing damaged sheetrock throughout a house that will be on the market soon.
-Laying tile in a walk-in shower for a new build in the country.

A customer called to have a fence repaired and a “dog-proof” latch Installed. Their typical latch design allowed the dogs to actuate the latch and escape.

Instead of spending $80+ on a new latch, I pitched an idea to the homeowner that she allowed me to try.

I repaired the pickets and modified the esisting latch to operate as a “pull-style” handle rather than simply pushing down on the bar, which the dogs could easily do for themselves. I tightened the spring to give it a little more resistance.

It worked great and solved the issue that was most concerning to the homeowner. And the best part, we were able to reuse a perfectly good latch instead of replacing it!

I reinforced the bottom of the pickets with a plank of wood wrapped in wire mesh to discourage the dogs from chewing on the soft red cedar.

This new gable vent is sealed, painted, and ready to install. I’ll be painting gables and installing this new vent tomorrow for a wonderful family! I built the custom trim to ensure it covers the entire cutout. They have already found additional jobs for me around their home that I’ll be doing soon! I spent the evening rigging up this new-to-me 2009 green Tahoe for my Handydan service calls. It’s a perfect truck for the jobs I will be doing for y’all!

Vinyl floors, 4-wheel-drive, no rear seats in the cargo area, set up like my Pawpaw’s old Ram Charger when I was a boy.

This dishwasher needed a new heating element and high temp thermostat installed. Fixed!

While handling the job I was able to address two other minor problems with the dishwasher with no extra charge to the customer!

The kitchen garbage disposal was leaking rusty water into the cabinet below. Fixed!

A guest bedroom was suffering from inadequate lighting. Fixed!

The mounting bracket for the smoke alarm in the upstairs hallway didn’t fit the replacement smoke alarm. Fixed!

This homeowner is one happy Handydan customer now!
