Have you ever wondered if grapes were native to California? This is Vitis californica or California wild grape. These vines are thriving in the Jahant Slough which is just north of the winery. The grape varieties that we farm come from Europe, (Vitis vinifera) but we graft those varieties onto native rootstock so they can tolerate the different soil pests that we have here in California. #langetwins #fromthefield #lodiwine #californianative #winegapes #sustainablewine
