Dallas County will be hosting the Fall Master Gardener Course. This is a great way to learn and then give back to your community by volunteering and teaching others what you learned! Applications are now open for fall Master Gardener training. If you want to learn more about horticulture, give back to your community, and meet other gardening enthusiasts, consider becoming a Master Gardener volunteer.
Want the knowledge but not interested in volunteering? You can apply for the horticulture fundamentals track instead. You won't gain Master Gardener status, but you'll get all the same information.

Yard and Garden: Hanging Basket Considerations
When buying hanging baskets, look for healthy plants that are well-balanced in the container. Remember that hanging baskets can get quite overgrown by mid-summer, so selecting baskets that still have some space for growth is beneficial and can reduce maintenance later in the season.

Iowa Learning Farms, in partnership with the Des Moines Water Works and the Conservation Learning Group, will host the first of three upcoming “Conservation On Tap” events, on Thursday, June 13, from 6-7 p.m. at Confluence Brewing Co. in Des Moines.
The event will provide local farmers, landowners, and urban residents a chance to discuss conservation and ask questions. There will be an opportunity for networking following the event. To ensure adequate space and food, RSVP by June 10 by calling 515-294-5429 or email [email protected].
