So someone contacted me because his laptop wouldn't turn on anymore and at first told me that it just started doing it but then later admitted he opened it up to fix a rattling noise but forgot to unplug and turn off the power before opening it. So he fried his motherboard when the screwdriver touched the motherboard. The problem area that's causing the issue is circled. Unfortunately the static discharge also hurt the RTX GPU so even if I fixed it the most expensive part of the laptop would need to be replaced which to the customer isn't worth it.

The only thing we could do is pull the hard drive and the ram at the request of the customer. Unfortunately mistakes happen and this was a BIG mistake that could've been avoided if all safety measures and guidelines were followed.

Remember folks if you're going to work on your own electronics make sure it's in a static free area. Make sure the power is unplugged and the battery (if removable) is removed and the power is turned off completely before EVER working on your electronics. Also don't forget to plug any important electronics into a GFI powerstrip to protect from power surges that could potentially harm them.
