Grandpas pickup

*Long post alert*

Of all the details I have been trusted with over the 3 short years in business, this is by far and away the one that I will not forget.

Jake contacted me through a friend about getting his truck cleaned up before Friday AM (5 days away). When he called I was already prepared to say “I’m sorry, I’m too busy and cannot right now”. Which was true, I still had 1 job to finish, and another showing up soon. But after talking with him, there was no way I could say ‘No’.

You see, Jake’s grandpa bought this 1976 F100 brand new off the lot. It passed through to his son, a coworker, and back to his Grandpa a few years later where he drove it daily. As time would have it, Grandpa aged and Old Blue sat for over 20 years in the garage where he would say “One day [I’ll get it running again]”.

But time went on.

Recently, Jake put some hours into getting it running again and he said his Grandpa was so proud and happy. Jake tried to give his grandpa a ride in it, but he was not able to get in and said maybe another time. Sadly, very shortly after that, Grandpa passed.

Jake really wanted to get Old Blue cleaned up so he could give his Grandpa one last ride to his final resting place. Between my regular day job, I worked tirelessly on restoring as much as I could on this.
Afterall, I saw myself as Jake and my love for my Grandpa I had. It was as though I was doing this for my own Grandpa as well. After riding along in it to my favorite “after” photo location, I captured him with it.

I received a loving note from Grandma and an invitation to attend the funeral.
At first I obliged and thanked them. But the next day, I had nothing going on during the service so I drove to Lebanon to pay my respects to Grandpa. There, I also met Grandma and shared a tearful hug as she told me about Grandpa and Jake’s loving bond they shared. They even shared the same birthday together. We said our goodbyes and I left.

Who says an Audi can’t make for a farm rig? 🤣 This A4 wagon was being used for farm help- grain, hay, some pet hair, and of course dried mud. This is a coworkers daughter so I picked it up from work (on my day off of course), gave it a wash, door jam cleaning, and an interior detail to bring it back to its former glory days. #pnwautodetail #autodetail #autodetailing #autodetailingworld #audi #audia4

Let face it, kids don’t care about the car. Sometimes it can get to the point it’s easier to just have someone with the tools and skills to take care of it. Now booking into Mid March.

Flashback to things I don’t want to do again 😳🤣#pnwautodetail #autodetailing #autodetailer #autodetail #autodetailingworld #disasterdetail

Works better than brushing I guess! 🤷‍♂️#pnwautodetail #autodetailing #dogsofinstagram #dogsofinsta

Re-application of worn out plasti-dip on this F350. Then an exterior polish and sealant. Interior already done.

Time for a break y’all. 8 vehicles in 7 days is taking it toll. Enjoying the rain under the deck cover I built a couple years ago. Realizing I need to turn it down a bit on detailing. Trying to not let a fun hobby become just another J-O-B even though it helps support the family, I need to make more time outside of both my jobs. I’m going to try and cut back to 2 weekends/month instead of 4 like k have been for too long. For those that don’t know, I work in cardiothoracic surgery 4 day/wk plus 14 days/month, 2 weekends/month with overnight call. Goodnight! ✌️

How can we capture this as real time speed!?
