Today was the final concert and awards ceremony of the 15th annual Vocal Artistry Art Song Festival and competition held in Keller Hall, University of New Mexico.
Many congratulations to all who participated and to the three cathedral choir members who made the finals: William Landahl, Alexandra Raskin, and Ida Shelton.
Pianist Ida Shelton (alto) won First Prize in the collaborative piano division for her performance of a Tchaikovsky song with Alexandra Raskin (soprano). William Landahl (baritone) won the Santa Fe Opera Young Voices award.

We are blessed at the Cathedral of St. John to have a wonderful staff of talented Section Leaders. Please meet Jordyn Tatum, the soprano one section leader.
Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, soprano Jordyn Tatum graduated 'summa cm laude' from the University of New Mexico in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Music Education (vocal concentration), complemented by secondary studies in organ and piano. Jordyn joined the Cathedral Chorister program in 2008 and now serves as the Chorister Assistant and a soprano section leader in the Cathedral Choir. She has toured nationally and internationally with the Cathedral Choir and has been a featured soloist on three of the choirs' commercially released CDs through Raven CD.
An avid choral singer, Jordyn is a member of Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico. With the Cathedral Choir, she has premiered new choral music by composers in residence, including Stephanie Martin, Cecilia McDowall, Sarah Quartel, Philip Moore, Andrew Carter, and Aaron David Miller. She most recently gave the US premiere of David McGregor’s 'Ave Verum Corpus' in March 2024. Jordyn currently teaches middle school choir with Albuquerque Public Schools and is committed to ensuring that high-quality music education is accessible to all children.

We are blessed at the Cathedral of St. John to have a wonderful staff of talented Section Leaders. Please meet Alfredo Beltran, our baritone section leader.
Alfredo Beltrán is a freelance professional singer (baritone), currently based in the Albuquerque, NM area, where he currently serves as the Baritone Section Leader for the Cathedral Choir at the Episcopal Cathedral of St John and is an active performer with : Voices of New Mexico. Some of Alfredo’s recent musical engagements have included singing with : A Community of Singers, the New Mexico Symphonic Chorus, Opera on Tap: New Mexico, the Borderland Arts Foundation in Las Cruces, NM, and the Durango Bach Festival in Durango, CO.
Before joining the Cathedral Choir in 2022, Alfredo was the Director of Music Ministries at Rio Rancho United Methodist Church and a section leader/assistant conductor at First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque.
Alfredo has a Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance from the University of New Mexico, and a Master of Music degree in voice performance from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
