Stepping Stones Toward a Successful Research Career
Since 1979, FPTR has awarded more than $20 million in research funding to the most promising physical therapist researchers. Even more remarkable than this major investment in research is the return. Our researchers have built on their early career funding to secure an additional $894 million in follow-on funding from major agencies including the NIH, the Department of Defense, the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development, among others. In this FPTR webinar, previously funded Promotion of Doctoral Studies (PODS) scholarship recipients will share their application experiences, key strategies for an award-winning application and lessons learnt throughout the application process. A staff of FPTR’s Scientific Programs will also speak about funding opportunities and offer insight on how the FPTR grants process can create opportunities for emerging investigators. Join us on Dec. 15 at 2:30 p.m. ET! https://foundation4pt.org/event/steppingstones-toward-a-successful-research-career/

Since 1989, more than 300 schools have raised $4.6 million to fund scholarships, fellowships, and research. With 20 years of clinical research experience, Jennifer Stevens-Lapsley, PT, MPT, PhD, FAPTA, is a recipient of multiple grants from the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research, leading to two larger projects awarded by the National Institutes of Health. As a principal investigator for older adult rehabilitation research, Jennifer has received more than $14 million in research funding from organizations such as NIH, the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, and Veterans Affairs. Jennifer is the rehabilitation science PhD program director and a professor of physical therapy at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She also is director of the RESTORE team and a health scientist at the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center.
