Vacation on Lake Michigan is a wrap. Enjoyed a red rot cocktail at sunset - the perfect beverage for someone who researches leather!

An update on the press! It has been sanded and oiled and is in the studio. It took a lot of manpower to hoist this 400+ pounder into place. One of the other, much smaller presses, for scale.

Another great greater Boston area find is the in Newton. I wanted to buy everything in the shop! There is a good selection of fountain pens including Sailor, Kaweco, and TWISBI. They also have the Kakimori dip pen and pigment inks (which I am obsessed with for ink samples and short bites). The stationery selection is amazing. The owner and staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely check it out if you are in the Boston vicinity.

Congratulations to Sisay Lemma and Hellen Obiri winner’s of the men’s and women’s categories at the 128th Boston Marathon. Here they are running past mile 24 in Brookline!

Somehow I failed to take pictures at the fabulous bookstores I’ve visited on this trip to Boston like or but I did snap a picture of this fabulous wallpaper found in a Cambridge, MA home!

Custom project to bind a gardening pamphlet into something “fancy.” This hand printed Italian paper with the floral design plus a chameleon, snail and frog was perfect!

Sunrise from Haleakala, a sacred sight considered the “House of the Sun” to native Hawaiians. My colleagues and I woke hours before dawn to see this amazing site before heading home.

The plant photo is the silversword that only grows on the slopes of Haleakala.

What do you use as bench weights? post with a fabulous button weight in the background inspired me to bring out all of the weights I’ve gathered over the years. Mostly I have LOTS of antique irons 🤣. How about you?

It doesn’t look like much yet but this is a folio sized cast iron book press I found at the DC Big Flea. I’ve never seen one this large before. I can’t wait to get it home, sanded and in use in the studio!

Finally made a visit to the renovated museum for some inspiration. The Sky’s the Limit Show is stunning, especially Alison Saar’s Undone and Rina Banerjees’s Lady of Commerce. The Remix show, highlighting the collection is equally impressive!

First shop update of 2024! Brand new fabric covered journals as well as a restock of old favorites. Because it is National LEGO Day there is a new garden themed journal made from LEGO baseplates.

Getting back to work in the studio. Or I will right after I finish cleaning up the craft fair season chaos!

Snowy day finds. A T-Rex in the snow and a lost book. Hope it finds its owner soon!

I'm gearing up fro two craft fairs this year. The first is the Heurich Haus Christmas Marky. I'll be there Saturday, December 3rd from 10AM-8PM. My booth will outside the garden on the sidewalk this year. I can'y wait!

It was so much fun making these dinosaur themed journals today. I even brought out the Playmobil dinosaurs to roam around and have a look. 🦕🦕🦕 Given the forecast, I’ll be making and adding lots of items to
my Etsy shop this weekend. ❄️🌨

Rainy weekend means a productive few days in the studio. New joiurnals and photo albums made from recently acquired fabrics with more to come. Dionosuars coming soon!
