Melasma is increased pigmentation (brown to gray-brown patches of skin) related to hormones (such as after pregnancy), genetics, UV exposure, and medications like birth control.
Areas of the face typically affected include the upper lip, upper cheeks, and chin.
Picosecond technology uses ultra-short bursts of energy to break up the pigmentation into smaller, more easily absorbed particles.
The number of treatments will vary depending on the location, size, depth and type of pigment. The treatments are done in intervals of 2-6 weeks and some individuals will require more treatments than others for optimal results.

These figures clearly display the facial muscles that are responsible for facial expressions.

📌They are controlled by various branches of our 7th cranial nerve aka the Facial Nerve!

📌This nerve allows these small muscles to move in the directions of the arrows.

📌When we use (or any other neuromodulators) we target the specific muscles we want to relax (frontalis, glabella, etc) and we block the nerve from activating that muscle.

📌With proper amounts (the dose) of Botox, in the right areas, we can prevent wrinkles, correct asymmetries, flip frowns, lift eyebrows, etc.
