We want to thank our 2 best dog customers- Julia Tan’s Australian Shepherd, Surge, & Kristin Walden’s Australian Shepherd, Jammie!! Our quail eggs are a routine part of their meals because of all the health benefits quail eggs offer.
Let’s talk eggs!!
According to Google, the average standard quail egg is around 9 g. Between our standard and Jumbo eggs our average egg weighs 12 g and the eggs we sell for eating range from 10-17 g. I’ve supplied photos with weights so you can see the difference in egg size. All of our eggs will be average to large size, but since we mix jumbo eating eggs with standard eating eggs, I wanted people to be aware of the comparisons. Since getting Jumbo quail I haven’t changed our pricing for eggs which are $3.50/dozen, but if you specifically want consistently jumbo size eggs we will start making that an option for $4/dozen. We also just purchased some extra large cartons to fit even our largest eggs so you don’t have to worry about them breaking. They make our standard size eggs look small, but just know our egg sizes haven’t changed.
I also provided comparisons with a bantam chicken egg & a standard chicken egg. Did you know that quail eggs are healthier than chicken eggs and are considered a “superfood”? They have more protein, amino acids, vitamins and minerals than a chicken egg when compared by ounces. Quail eggs can help balance your cholesterol, improve heart health, boost your immunity, combat allergies, & increase your energy levels. I’ll put a link to a webmd article in the comments. Because of the health benefits not only do I eat quail eggs almost daily, but I also add an egg or two to my dogs’ meal each day in addition to a little raw goat milk that acts as a probiotic.

Talulo’s twins. So grateful she waited for a very cool day instead of earlier this week when it was over 100 F. Perfect day to have her little boy and girl. Girl will likely be retained but boy will be looking for a 🏠 and will be on a bottle. Sire has phenomenal show and dairy lines behind him. Dam milked over 2 gallons/day during her younger years. She will also stay heavy in milk for 18 months (probably longer if we had tried). Whether you want to show or put milk in the bucket, this guy should be a great addition to your herd.
Talulo had twins around 3:45 today. Also pictured is her daughter from 2 years ago, Nynaeve, checking out her new 1/2 brother and sister.
Our frozen Raw Goat Milk will now come in these really nice, 35 ounce, tamper proof bags with a spout. It takes up less room in your refrigerator or freezer and holds 34 ounces of frozen milk. Frozen bags are $3/ea and fresh gallons are $8/each plus a jar deposit your first purchase. If you exchange your jar at future purchases, no additional jar fees will be applied.
Our neighbors purchase a gallon of our milk every other day & swear it’s the best tasting milk they’ve had. Goat milk tastes very similar to cow milk but is healthier with higher protein and calcium content. It’s also lower in lactose and research has shown it may help your body absorb nutrients from other foods. Raw goat milk is an excellent probiotic when added to your dog’s diet. Frozen milk can be stored for 6 months and can last 2 weeks in your fridge although I recommend using within 7-10 days. If you prefer pasteurized milk, it is very easy to pasteurize it in your instant pot or on the stove. PM me with any questions!
Andover just E of Wichita KS No 🛳️, farm pick up only. You wanted QUAIL HENS & we have them!!! I’ve had so many people ask & I’ve only just now caught up with chick orders (black chicks still have a short wait list) & still have left over 4 week old chicks that I can sell as s*xed. Not all colors can be feather s*xed so this will only be feather s*xable colors. The other colors can be sold straight run for much less than the s*xed price or if I still have them at 6 weeks I can vent s*x them then. Colors I have already s*xed as hens:
-Falb Fee (Pharoah + Fee),
-Egyptian (Roux + Pharoah),
-Pearl Fee (Fawn + Fee),
-Calico Fee (SOMEWHAT RARE)
-Jumbo Ginger on Pharoah (RARE) &
-Oz Snowy on Pharoah (VERY RARE)
not previously available in the USA until this spring after being recently imported from Australia
-1 Jumbo Pansy Breeding Pair (RARE) I will only sell as a pair, 1 male & 1 female.
I do not make 100% guarantees on s*xing since I can make mistakes and when keeping birds I almost always vent s*x at 6 weeks. If you end up getting a male & I have a female of equal value, I will replace it (you keep the male) Standard Straight run pricing at 4 weeks old starts at $5.50, Jumbo straight run starts at $8 & s*xed Standard hens start at $8 (Rare colors priced separately).
Straight run colors:
-Tibetan
-Rosetta
-a variety of colors with Roux
-a variety of colors with Fee

This snake managed to climb up the quail hutch & was wrapped around a quail. The quail seems ok minus a hurt wing, but the snake didn’t make it. It had sliced itself up pretty badly trying to get back out of the hardware cloth. I can’t believe it fit through the tiny hole!

New Tip of the Day in our new series- use a wax pencil on the brooder to mark color/breed of chicks in each brooder. You can use a wet cloth & it will wipe it off any plastic service.
We highly recommend Hatching Time brooders (use discount code BRIGHTMARVEL25) because they are so easy to clean, the thermostat on the heating units keeps the brooders an exact temp without overheating the room outside or using more electricity than needed, & it’s so quick & easy to fill the feed trays & water tanks for auto fill water cups.

Today when I got out of bed at 3 pm because I’ve been having really bad migraines & Lucas said he took care of almost all the morning chores for me!
I’m going to start a series called “tips & tricks” for hobby dairy farms & quail raising. These are things that have worked for us & might be worth giving a try if you don’t already have something that works for you 🙂 or sometimes it might be something a bit more on the sarcastic side 😎. Follow our page if you’d like to see more or feel free to comment tips & tricks that you’d like to share!!
First tip of the series- milk your goats in the same order each and every time to minimize any pushing or crowding at the gate. After the first few weeks they seem to learn who they go after and this makes it easier to get them out of the gate 1 by 1 to get to the milk stand. Pictured is Rev showing she knows it’s her turn and Talulo in the 2nd picture over to the side because she knows she’s after Rev. She hasn’t had her baby yet (we decided to breed her last minute at the end of the season), but she is getting on the milk stand and getting her grain when everyone else gets milked. That way I know she’s eating the right amount to grow her babies but not too much that will make her kids too big to push out on her own.
💀Are you ready for several hours of information about genetic color mutations, breed standards, & why conformation and dairy production & longevity go hand in hand 😬
Andover KS just E of Wichita. ADGA Nigerian Dwarf Doe in Milk, 2 years old with blue eyes, FF. Has been started on milk test so you could transfer her to your herd to finish her milking stars. She is friendly with people she knows well & has great manners on the milk stand either by hand or with a machine. Has not been shown yet but could be a good 4h goat. We are really trying to keep our numbers down so we can keep some kids without adding to our herd number. Herd is tested negative annually for CAE, CL, & Johnes. Please PM for more info.

Moved in the milking equipment despite not having the walls up yet. I was too excited to get out of the hot barn. Unfortunately the AC has been struggling to keep up with the heat, but the fans help some. The quail area is almost fully moved in now other than 1 of the incubators & the birds that will be staying outside in the ground pens and the hutch.
Hatch day again!!! These quail 🐥 are all spoken for but we still have a large variety of 1 week old quail chicks available from our last hatch that are looking for a new 🏠
10 days worth of quail eggs after being sorted & cracked eggs removed- around 1,200. We also have chicken eggs, fresh or frozen raw goat milk, quail chicks, & several Babydoll Southdown sheep! Send us a message!
Andover just E of Wichita, KS. Rare color Coturnix Quail Chicks 1 week old!! Oz Snowy & Splash have not previously been available in the USA. These colors were imported from Australia recently and have just started circulating in the US starting this spring! Oz Snowy puts a diluted chocolate looking color on top of another base color so there is a large variety within this color collection. Splash is somewhat similar to Dotted White except that the pattern of color is slightly different and the white seems to bleed into the colored areas more. We also have chicks in other rare colors like Jumbo Ginger, Jumbo Pansy, & Calico Fee. We will have Solid Black Coturnix available by reservation. And we have 1 week old chicks in less rare colors like Rosetta, Tibetan, Pharaoh, Blue, Andalusian, a variety with Fee, & a variety with Roux in standard size.
Great news everyone! We should have Ground Raw Quail available for dog owners wanting to supplement their dog’s diet with some healthy raw options soon! This will not be a complete diet as it will only contain the meat, bone, & organs, nothing added. We can try to accommodate if you want more of the bird included. We are registering the product with the state & waiting for the lab to give us results from a sample of the product. We are still figuring out pricing since we want it to be affordable but also need to recover our costs. If you have purchased a similar product, we welcome your input!
I don’t care what anyone says, if forced to make a choice between the worst winter and the summer, my choice will always be winter!!! I can put on more clothes, run heaters, take breaks to heat up… but if I take off anymore clothes the neighbors might call the sheriff 😂. And I feel like once I’m hot there is no cooling down 🙄
We still have around 150 1 wk old quail chicks looking for 🏠 in almost all colors. STRAIGHT RUN! Standard size $2.50 each & Jumbo $3.50 each this week, rare colors priced separately.
Colors at above pricing include Standard- Blue, Andalusian, Silver, a variety of colors with Fee dilution, a variety of colors with Roux dilution, Tibetan, Rosetta, & Pharoah. Jumbo- Manchurian, Italian, Dotted White, Tux, & S*x Link Brown.
Rare colors- variety of a new color from Australia called OZ Snowy, Calico Fee, Jumbo Pansy (only 5 left), & Jumbo Ginger
As always, great information from TOF about the benefits of breeding S*x Link Brown genetics out of your Pharoah lines. If you aren’t a color genetics nerd, there’s no reason to worry about it since the goal in doing it is to be able to test breed with a completely clean Pharoah with no color mutations. This can help you create new colors or make more of a color you already have, or isolate whether something you are seeing is natural variation or a mutation.
Both sets of twins are 4 weeks old tomorrow. Their sire is our *B moonspotted buck from show lines & their dams are blue eyed FFs starting milk test this year. The 3 boys should do well in a show ring, bring strong dairy production into your lines, and/or as pets. Can be registered with ADGA. The blue-eyed, frosted muzzle girl will be retained. More info on sire, dam & pedigree in pics at the end.
