HAPPY K9 VETERANS DAY! Today is a day to reflect on their valor, remember those that have passed, and recognize the tireless efforts of active-duty service dogs. From the battlefields to search and rescue operations, to assisting law enforcement and being therapy companions, these dogs play an indispensable role. Today we honor their sacrifices, dedication, and the invaluable services they provide to the country and the communities in which they serve.

Evans Town Code requires that all dogs over the age of 4 months be licensed that reside within the town. There are many dog licenses that have expired, and while owners have been contacted very few have yet to relicense.

If you have been contacted and haven't reregistered your dog please do so as soon as possible. Current fees for registering are set to increase soon and if you register now you can still register at the current, lower, rates.

If you are unsure if your dog's license is up to date or you have any questions about Dog Licenses you can contact the Town Clerk's Office at 716-549-8787

As summer heats up, it’s tempting to bring your pet with you on car rides around town. Sadly, many people believe that cracking a window is enough to keep their dogs cool in the car while they make a quick pit stop—but they couldn’t be more wrong. When it’s 80 degrees outside, your car will be a staggering 114 degrees in less than 30 minutes.

Worse still, dogs can’t cool themselves down as easily as people, and once they overheat, they can suffer extensive organ damage or die. That’s why leaving an animal alone in a car is more than just a bad idea, it’s a form of animal cruelty.

Here are other ways to help:

Immediately call Evans Police at 716-549-3600 if you see an animal trapped in a hot car. Local law officials have the ability to enter the vehicle and rescue the pet.

Do not leave until help has arrived.

Notify the managers of nearby businesses so they can make an urgent announcement.
