There's something extra-sweet about making a gingerbread house totally from scratch. While the fail-safe kits save you time, they lack the personal touch that the made-from-scratch versions offer. Follow these instructions to craft up a winter wonderland, complete with a rustic log cabin, campfire, and retro camper — while you hibernate from the frigid cold IRL.

Ingredients:
Mint Chocolate Cookie Dough
Royal Icing
Gingerbread house stencils (Download here!)
Chocolate rocks
Red sour belts
White jelly beans
Tootsie Rolls
Sprinkles, edible pearls and/or Christmas-bulb candies
Pretzel rods
Step-by-Step Instructions to Make a Gingerbread House:
Make a batch of our Mint Chocolate Cookie Dough. Once cooled, use our printable stencils to cut out doors, shutters, trailer fin, wheels, antler mount, and other smaller pieces. "Glue" the pieces together with Royal Icing.
Make entryway: Pave a path with chocolate rocks and candy pebbles.
Make roof: To make shingles, layer pieces of red sour belts using royal icing as glue, making sure they overlap.
Make chimney: Coat with icing and add speckled white jelly beans. Let set before attaching to house.
Make "log" walls: Use royal icing to attach long Tootsie Rolls to sides of house cutting to fit as needed.
Make camper: Food with royal icing as desired, "hanging" sprinkles, pearls, and Christmas-bulb candies on camper.
Make wood piles: Cut pretzel rods in half to make stacks for the fireplace.
