I’ve been so blessed to have the wedding of my dreams, an amazing honeymoon, and was able to enjoy my new husband completely these past months. 💘💍

Precautionary Post: Skin Lifting 🩹🩹🩹

Skin lifting happens when the skin is pulled up with the wax. It can happen due to your skin not having enough toughness to withstand waxing.
When we wax, we remove dead skin cells but if your skin is going through something it can also pull away healthy skin tissue.
If any of the following apply to you, waxing may not be the best option at the moment for you:

- Sensitive skin: These skin types can see some lifting around the T-zone area.
- Daily use of Retinoids/Retinol.
- Accutane & other acne treatments.
- Steroid Creams or tablets.
- Any medications that cause photosensitivity.
- Use of bleaching products.
- Recent sunburns.
- Recent abrasive skin procedures such as chemical peels.
- Use of products with high Vitamin A content.

Other less likely causes for skin lifting:

- Antidepressants/Anti-anxiety medications.
- Recent exfoliation.
- Hormonal imbalances including pregnancy, pre & post pregnancy, breastfeeding, PMS & menstruation.

Once skin lifting has occurred, it can take 3-7 days to heal. Often a scab will form. You can use an antibiotic cream as well as an itch relief/eczema cream. & of course SUNSCREEN to help avoid any hyperpigmentation. Once healed regular facials and skin care can resume.

Although this client left with beautiful brows, skin lifting did happen due to daily use of retinol cream. Unfortunately, even after 7 years as an esthetician, mistakes can still happen. Will definitely be bringing back my take in questionnaires so this doesn’t happen again. 🫶🏽
