What can a seed do?

This week’s challenge: Choose Your Squad!

Planning for life means being ready for the unexpected. Who are the people in your life who are willing and able to provide you with support when you need it? For some, the answers are obvious, for others it takes time to consider. If you haven’t chosen these individuals yet, come up with a list to discuss with your estate planning attorney. If you have chosen them, reevaluate your list to ensure it still works for you and your family.

Here are a few questions to get you started:

🔹Who is someone that would be calm, confident, and comfortable advocating on my behalf in a health care setting – even if my wishes differed from theirs?

🔹Who is someone I consider to be financially responsible, resourceful, and organized with great attention to detail?

🔹Who do I trust to care for my children in emergency situations?

🔹Who are the people who know me best?

🔹Who are the people I trust the most?

Write your answers down and be sure to work with an attorney in your state to officially put your squad into position and empower them to support you when the time comes.

What's your favorite chapter in the Bible? I'd be ready to bet that it's not one of the "begats." Many of us secretly skip over genealogies (no judgement! 🤫) but it's probably because we don't see just how vital they are to the story being told. The 1st Chapter of Matthew describes the ancestry of Jesus... starting with Abraham who lived 42 generations (or about 2000 years) before the person Matthew was talking about!

None of us exists without the people who lived before us, and while each family is different, we can all learn something from understanding when, where, why, and how we entered the story.
