I've pulled cable through many different mediums (sheetrock, metal girders, ceiling tile, crawlspaces, you name it) and I have to say that this device has become my new favorite way to pull cable in just about every scenario.

Comparing this to other manufaxrurer's products, such as Klein, the magnetic lead is much much thinner while also having a much stronger magnetic force. Magnepull is about the size of a fishing lure, very easy to slide down a small hole, while Klein is like a hockey puck cut in half -- very unwieldy.

I'm happy I bought this. It's expensive, probably the most expensivr tool you'll buy for running cables or wire, but it is totally worth it -; if you make this the first tool you buy for pulling cables if will likely be the only tool you will need (outside of crimper, punch tool, drywall saw and spade drill bit of course)."

I bought this item thinking "How good could it be", but it is better than I thought possible. I wanted to run Ethernet cable through my three story house, my home was built in 1925 so the walls are made of plaster, not sheetrock. I contacted three vendors and all of them told me it was impossible to run Ethernet cables through the walls since I have plaster walls. I got quotes for the work ranging from $1,800 to $4,500.

After seeing the quotes I decided to give this product a try and it worked wonders. I was able to run Ethernet cable from the basement to my attic without much difficulty. It took me about 5-6 hours but it was well worth the time. This product made finding the cables and then cutting the holes in the wall to pull through effortless. The worst problem I had was that it got stuck on a nail going down one wall, I pulled it and went fishing again.

This item worked like a charm and exceeded my expectations. Due the ease in which I can now run wires through my wall, I went ahead and installed a video camera system outside my house and it took me less than a day.

I highly recommend this item! The magnet and pulling chain are so strong once they connect that the pulley handle will hold itself on the wall."

Full review here: "Awesome! I originally picked this up for a rainy day when I needed to run additional Ethernet/fiber/etc through the walls in my home. Then one day a Starlink Satellite Internet Dish showed up at my door step and roof mounting wasn't an option.
So I put a pole out my yard about 60 feet away from the house and ran some 1 1/4 conduit out to the pole. But how do I pull the heavy starlink ethernet cable with the giant choke through 60 feet of conduit easily. Sure I could wrestle around with weights and fishing line or maybe some thread a shopvac and run string through it and pull blah. Magnepull XP1000 to the rescue!
Attached the magnet to the end of the cable and just ran the magnet over the conduit and in a few minutes I was done!
10/10 would use Magnepull again!
10/10 would not hand dig another trench again :)"

Let's be clear, nobody who's cable fishing is having a good time. 🎣 It's awkward, it's fiddly, there are unpredictable setbacks, and you're usually in some nasty crawl space or attic getting filthy. But you know what else isn't a good time? Repairing drywall and repainting walls. So here you are, reading reviews of cable fishing equipment.

And that makes sense, if you're going to go fishing, you should give yourself the best equipment.

This is, as far as I can tell, the best of this particular type of equipment. The magnet roller is incredibly strong, but also has smooth rolling no scuff wheels. The drop tool has its own magnetic strength, and is drawn to the roller like Homer to a donut. The positioning device is also pretty sweet and actually works unlike a lot of them, you get warmer/colder beeping until you're in range and then arrows to nail down where you're at.

You probably still want some fishing rods and hooks, and a borescope, and of course a bunch of heavy waxed twine, but this is a super good start as you gear up for the eternal battle of You Vs Wall (or more precisely You Vs Whatever Stupid S**t Is In The Wall)."

"Time saver deluxe
Not only did it help me pull the cable down the wall through insulation. But it helped me find where I wanted to run my cable from the attic. I put the magnet in the ceiling in the attic next to where I thought I wanted to be coming down the wall. Took a few seconds to find it below. Move it over to where I thought I'd really like my hole would be to work for what I wanted. Went back up drilled my hole attached my cable pulled it down the wall. Stopped short of where I wanted my hole below. Got out my oscillating saw with electrical box outlet bit and cut my hole. Pulled magnet roller down and out came my cable. I'd say it saved me a good hour today. And many hours to come. A must have for your tool kit. If you run a wiring. I install surveillance cameras. I should had this tool a long time ago."
