I got to treat new clients tonight. This is special because it happens less and less these days. It's a magical experience when a new client realizes that massage can help get them out of pain. Massage For Pain Relief!?!?The light bulb goes off and they can move better.
The appointment was likely booked by someone that cares for them and doesn't want to see them in pain.
Some of my favorite new clients are the people who Do Not Want to be Touched, but will come in because they'll try anything to feel better .
Someone whose mobility increases and they walk out knowing how to care for muscles better. This makes me so happy and blessed to do what I do.

Yep. When a client says they have foot pain, they will get calf muscles treated too.

Recertification is normally every 2 years BUT.. 'delayed because of pandemic' should be an acronym.

FDR did better than I did actually. Even though the written test was only 1 page long AND open-book, I passed by the skin of my teeth. Both Rasins and Macadamia nuts are poisonous to dogs. If a dog has diharea, withhold all food. Important things to know when you are entrusted with such an expensive and excellent life-changing device.

We had a kick-ass transgender training at TealCenter today. Man it was HARD and awesome. Hard because it's work to grow myself emotionally.
Greatful for the empathetic heart-stretch (gotta stretch a muscle to help it grow). Thankful to Teal Center leadership to invest in the staff so we may better serve our fellow humans.

So I got the subscription to a service that allows you to download photos. I search Massage and this is what I get. It kind of ticks me off. Why are all these people white!?! Why are there so many white people and not ONE person of color in this list of professional massage photos.
We need to be the change.
Yes I understand that I’m just one little white girl getting pi**ed off about something… maybe I have no right to get angry about it but still. Grrrr.

The “old (perfectionist) me” would hide this “failure" of my certification exam, but I don’t see it that way now. No,not one bit. This is progress. This is bravery. This is learning another new skill, one in my “wheelhouse" that easily fits in my “toolbox”. I have two more chances at success. However, Holding a certificate does NOT equate to proficiency. I need practice!! I’ll be trusting coworkers like and others to help refine my skills before using them in sessions. Graston Tools are… people love ‘em or hate ‘em, depending on their experience. I spent time studying how to use them while I was healing from my hip injury (Aug) and surgery (Oct). I feel hopeful on this path!
