BIG NEWS! CCCAC and Winky Cats Ashtabula have officially MERGED! We're doing all the same great stuff: low cost spay/neuter, help for people with too many animals, and TNR-A (trap-neuter-return-ADOPT!) - and we've done it together for a few years now - so it is time to make this thing OFFICIAL! Please follow the Winky Cats Ashtabula page to keep up with all our adventures, cats and kittens available for adoption, and requests for our programs!

Cat rescue moves to new facility 12/23/2023

THANK YOU to the Star Beacon and Warren Dillaway for the beautiful (front page!) article on our new cat care center! What an honor!

Cat rescue moves to new facility GENEVA — A cat rescue operation is moving down the street to a new location to better help animals and the community.

We currently have 3 litters of kittens and a (very) pregnant mama, so “kitten season” never actually ended for us. As the days get longer, unfixed girls could be pregnant by the end of January.

Female cats are “seasonally polyestrous”, meaning they have multiple estrus cycles during the breeding season - which means MULTIPLE LITTERS a year.

NOW is the time to get your cat fixed.

We have limited low-cost spay/neuter surgeries available. Yes, it is a waiting list, but get on it NOW!

33 cats on their way to spay/neuter surgery at Humble Creatures Veterinary Clinic! We take more than 90 cats to this high volume/high quality clinic every month!

This guy didn’t want to be caught. He was trapped on the fourth visit to the site. Five cats went to Rescue Village on Tuesday. Three females and two males.

We have an emergency on our hands. At least 40 feral and feral friendly cats are in a dire situation. Their colony feeder is no longer able to care for them. Without intervention, they face a devastating winter. We'll be frank - we don't think they will make it where they are without human care. We MUST place these cats in barns, warehouses, heated garages, etc. They are "working cats" - great for catching mice and other pests. All you have to do is provide daily food, water and shelter. We have to get these cats relocated in the next couple of weeks. They are ALL fixed, vaccinated and ear tipped. If you can provide for one or more, please email [email protected]. Adoption fee is by donation. Please help us save these cats.

Barbara Grant-Peters created this unique, reversible wall hanging and donated it to CCCAC in March of this year. The front depicts the need for spay neuter and the back illustrates the goal of a controlled cat population. Hundreds of people saw this message at the Covered Bridge Festival this past weekend. This provided us with an opportunity to gain potential volunteers and to reach people who are feeding strays and could benefit from knowledge of TNR before litters are born. Thank you Barbara and The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival!

Eight cats went to Rescue Village on Tuesday: 6 females and 2 males from three locations. The adults in the photos are 2 females from a barn we have trapped at for two weeks. The Black kitty is from a group of 6 cats being fed by a senior. Of course only 5 were caught! Darn kitten! Return trip planned. A single Orange and White male,‘last kitten’, was picked up from a nearby location previously TNR’d. The cats were happy to leave their traps. ❤️🐾

Today we took 29 cats to for spay/neuter! By the end of the month, we will have done more than 100 cats at this clinic alone! It costs us about $1,700 EVERY TIME we make a surgery run. We are always grateful for business sponsors and individual donors as we work to keep the spay/neuter train chugging along. Can you help?

Four females and two males went to Rescue Village today. The Orange male was declined surgery at this time due to his health. One female had her ovaries removed because they were oversized and could have been cancerous. They are still under the affects of the anesthesia and will be safe and cozy as they recover tonight. 🐾

Each kitten and cat has a story. These kittens were fixed. They had been handled and so 5 were adoptable. The 6th joined the colony. Unfortunately the mom cat ‘disappeared’. It is critical to watch for her and get her spayed.
They are part of the August count:
114 cats helped
100 spay and neuter surgeries
68 cats to Humble Creatures in Canton
29 cats to Rescue Village in Novelty
2 cats to Lake Humane Soc. In Mentor
1 cat to PetFix in Euclid
62 cats returned to their caretakers
22 cats adopted
some kittens in care awaiting adoption

Last Tuesday 7 cats were transported to Rescue Village by their caretaker. There were 4 females and 3 males in the group. This week was an even split of 2 females and 2 males. Photos are of
2 kittens and a Tom cat that fills the trap up pretty well. Mom cat not pictured. This group will be happy to be home tomorrow. 🐾

On Tuesday 8 cats visited Rescue Village. No more kittens and no more fighting for these cats. There was an even split: 4 males and 4 females. 🐾

For feral colony caretakers: we have a person in Ashtabula County who has a freezer full of chicken meat scraps. If you are interested in feeding these scraps to your colony, send us a message!

These cats are all related. Does it show?
On Tuesday 5 females and 3 males were
fixed. Six went to Rescue Village and 2 went to Lake Humane Society. All of the cats are back home now. CCCAC is grateful for our clinic partners and for the caretakers who helped do the trapping. 🐾 It takes us all working together.

Four female cats were spayed at Rescue Village on Tuesday. Three of them have had a litter this summer. The cat that looks asleep is making ‘biscuits’ and is content after eating. The Tortie profile is a drop trap escapee that took the homeowner 2 weeks to retrap. She is ‘The Last Cat’ to be trapped out of a group of 18.

Photos from Community Cats Coalition of Ashtabula County's post 08/17/2023

Eight TNR cats went to Rescue Village Tuesday. The adult cat pictured went to PetFix Thursday. The female kittens pictured would be able to become pregnant in a few months and their feral mom was pregnant again. They will live outside and have a family with two young girls who will happily care for them. The family acted fast to prevent additional births.
Goal accomplished. 🐾 Totals: 3 males,
5 females and one cat was already spayed.
