Types of dialysis access are:

Central venous catheter (CVC) – typically used as a temporary access until another more permanent access is ready for use
Arteriovenous (AV) fistula – the access most often recommended
Arteriovenous (AV) graft – the next best choice for those patients whose veins are not large enough or healthy enough for an AV fistula
Peritoneal (PD) catheter – for those who have selected peritoneal dialysis as their form of renal replacement therapy.

It is very important to maintain your access to keep it from clotting.

When cost is a barrier, often due to a lack of insurance coverage, women might delay treatment. This can result in greater fibroid growth, which can further limit treatment options. Let’s help our fibroid sisters have access to their best treatment options

Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
-Uterine fibroids are benign lumps that grow on the uterus.

UFE is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat Fibroid tumors of the uterus without the necessity to remove the uterus except in very rare circumstances. This procedure should be done when the fibroids are causing symptoms such as pain and excessive bleeding. This procedure blocks the blood flow to the Uterine Fibroids resulting in their shrinkage using minimally invasive techniques. Look at our website for more information and videos at

Welcome to Dr. C's Atlanta Vascular Center! We are an outpatient vascular center. Did you know that one of the procedures we specialize in at our office is dialysis access maintenance? Dialysis patients are encouraged to have the flow of their dialysis access (fistula or graft) checked every three months. This is done to provide and maintain good blood flow through dialysis access by treating blockages and to allow for a better quality of life. Have you had your access checked lately?
