Look at that! We are excited to announce our film "Building Atlanta: The Story of Herman J. Russell" has been nominated for a Southeast Emmy award!
We really put our whole selves into this documentary, and though it was released right before a pandemic hit, it continues to make waves and reach more people. Mr. Russell's story really speaks for itself, and we continue to be grateful for having the opportunity to give it cinematic life.
As we continue to strive forward in this trying time, we hope you'll keep Living Stories in mind for all your storytelling needs, both big and small. Visit us at livingstories.tv, or reply to this post to seek more info.
We are very proud that our documentary on the life of Atlanta's own Herman J. Russell will be playing as part of the ATL Black History Film Festival in February. Take a look at the flyer for how to tune in.
As we enter 2021 with some signs of hope, we hope you'll keep Living Stories in mind for telling YOUR story. This past year has made us well-versed in COVID-safe photography and virtual events / virtual video production.
We are delighted to share our newly released 'buzz' video for the upcoming virtual event, "Soiree of Stars," the National Down Syndrome Congress' annual gala.

We are very proud that our documentary on Herman J. Russell has been accepted into the BronzeLens Film Festival. As filmmakers we did our best to stay out of our own way, and bring HJ to life, so that younger generations get a chance to meet him. For this reason, it makes us happy to see the film making waves.
Check the comments to watch the film's trailer.

It was our privilege to tell Axton's story in our video medium earlier this year. Amid this pandemic, the strength and bravery of Axton and his family serve as much needed perspective for all of us. Getting to meet him reminded us of why we do this work.

As we face the hardships and uncertainty of COVID-19, here's a reminder of the strength of our scientific institutions. 40 years ago, the world was dealing with the outbreak of a different unknown virus, and researchers at CDC and Emory University came up with an early treatment.
Stay safe and be well, everyone! When you protect yourself you're protecting us all.

Be sure to tune in to ATL PBA on Sunday (Feb. 23rd) at 7pm to watch the next broadcast of our film on Atlanta icon Herman J. Russell. We are very excited by the response the film has received so far. We are grateful to be able to share his life's story.
Building Atlanta: The Story of Herman J Russell - TRAILER A short trailer for our latest public television documentary on one of Atlanta's icons of business and the civil rights movement.
Living Stories is proud to announce our latest feature-length documentary will be airing on ATL PBA at 9pm on Sunday, February 16th, and again the next week at 7pm on Sunday, February 23rd.
We are thrilled to be getting Herman Russell's story out there. He went from working hard as a shoeshine boy in 1930s Atlanta to becoming a millionaire before the end of the Jim Crow era. Mr. Russell is also one of the unsung heroes of the civil rights movement, providing financial support for meetings and money to help student protestors make bail.
More than that, he had a unique persona, and in our film we try to bring him to life. We hope his story will inspire people the world over.
Special thanks to for their partnership and dedication to sharing Mr. Russell’s legacy. https://livingstories.tv/building-atlanta
On Monday, November 25, the Ivan Allen, Jr. Legacy Bridge will be dedicated in downtown Atlanta. It's a living landmark to a vital period in the history of our community.
We provided excerpts from our documentary, which can be viewed in conjunction with the panels along the bridge's pedestrian and bicycle pathway. The bridge itself has been remodeled and provides a spectacular view of Atlanta's skyline.
Come take a look! The bridge begins right near the corner of Marietta St. and Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd.

We are proud to showcase our recent work with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc., about which we also produced a half-hour documentary back in 2011 entitled One Law for All. The work that Legal Aid does in the Atlanta area makes them one of the great unsung heroes of our community.
Take a sneak preview of our promo video for the upcoming 2019 Bill Foege Global Health Awards, which will be held at the Delta Flight Museum on June 6th.
Did you know the Peach Bowl began as the first college football bowl game dedicated to charity? To this day, it still raises more money for charity than any bowl game, thanks in large part to its 50 year relationship to Georgia Lions Lighthouse for the Blind. We produced a 4 part video series to commemorate the anniversary.

Last year we were blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with Usher's New Look, an Atlanta-based non-profit with national reach. We got to interview Usher in the location where they were just beginning the build-out of what was to become The Spark Lab. Usher's vision is to give Atlanta's young people a safe space to explore their creativity, develop their passions into a business plan. The UNL team, and the kids they serve are some of the most exciting people to be around in ATL, and we are proud to have played a part in promoting this new space.

The Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc. is one of Atlanta's great treasures that too often flies under the radar. In creating a half-hour documentary on Atlanta Legal Aid for public television in 2011, we were transformed. It was startling to discover that there is such an enormous need for legal services which threatens our very notions of rule of law, but deeply heartening to discover that there is a dedicated firm of lawyers in Atlanta that for many decades has provided access to our legal system for those who need it most.
We are currently doing a series of short videos with the design to educate the public on what Legal Aid is, and to tell some of its many stories of pursuing justice for all.
Atlanta Legal Aid Society: A Day in the Life The staff of Atlanta Legal Aid Society describe the help they provide to the community on a daily basis and share what they love most about their work.
Hello, Facebook. We will be posting our work to this page periodically so everyone can see what all we're working on. A favorite project from last year was our agency video for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. It was a privilege to get to tell Mike's story in our humble medium, and we hope it will inspire more and more people to participate in Big Brothers, Big Sisters. There are few organizations that touch so many lives so deeply.
