Being a Nomad definitely has its advantages. Spontaneous stop to Antelope Island SP to float in the great Salt Lake in Utah. Mixed in with friends and an amazing Sunset.
The Northern Lights over the Beartooth Mountains between Red Lodge and Cooke City Montana.
Meanwhile in Montana we have a Grizzly Bear trap right across from our Airstream that (by the way) we are living in. Yikes! Gonna be a long night.
One of our views from our Property. 5,800 feet in elevation will make for a complete 4 season experience. Can’t wait to get started. What should be the first thing we build?
Backpacking Season has finally begun kickin’ off deeper into the heart of Montana’s epic mountain ranges.
This has me all google-eyed for our next on-foot adventure coming up soon!
Anyone else explore certain location~~just to ditch the wheels and go out on foot?

I’ve always thought this place has some of the most beautiful rainbows. In this otherwise monochromatic landscape, the greens punch a bit brighter against dark skies.
Rainbows are a rather common occurrence out here. Thunderstorms roll through nearly everyday but move through quickly with sunny skies chasing their tail…makes for some pretty darn good rainbow sightings. 🤟🏼

One of my many favorite moments along the - when they are so close to the road, you can sit and hang with them, watching them just do their ‘thang.
It’s not everyday you encounter a Mountain Goat, but your chances are pretty good this time of year along the
Anyone else been up here - what have been your favorite moments or experiences up there?

Rainy Day Views.
Who can relate?!!
We’ve had quite a few significant downpours today, a bit of minor hail and A LOT of deep murky puddles.
The good news though is now allllll that snow is officially gone…and therefore the 5th Mud Season this Spring can officially commence! 🤣
Life is good.
While you can’t always predict the path you’ve set out for yourself, rolling with the more unexpected moments is one of the many traits nomads tend to share. Would you agree?
We’ve had our fair share of unpredictable weather, highway scares, breakdowns, getting stuck on sketchy back roads, boondocking frights, you name it we’ve experienced it. But those are what have also shaped all the incredible moments; the moments that fuel this adventure to be what it is. They seem to go hand in hand at times.
And as long as we are living life the way we do, I don’t see them ending. We tend to go for the higher pay out and life’s balance in that is what we are often rewarded with. So, really what’s a snow storm that drops over 14inches in less than ten hours in the midst with all the rest?
Hope y’all enjoy whatever adventure today brings you! 🤙🏼
There’s always a random surprise to living life as a nomad. What has been YOUR biggest surprise with the weather?

Welcome in, glad to have ya following us!
It’s due time we reintroduced ourselves to you, for those new and loyal to us and our continuing journey of living life as Nomads. Thank you for that!
We’re Ariane and Scott, creators of This Nomadic Idea. We set out with intention to live minimally and mindfully to offer ourselves the freedom to shift and move about the United States on our terms. A little over a year into that exploration we fell in love with a small Montana mountain town outside the NorthEast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Without intending to stay as long as we did, we found ourselves immersed within the beauty of this raw nature and unbelievable daily wildlife encounters for 3 Summers seasons, 3 Fall Seasons and 2 harsh yet epic Winter Seasons. And now, we’ve just returned back for our 4th Summer 🤙🏼
We’re back here to say hello {again} and thanks for engaging in watching our life unfolding as it does. Life gave us one hell of an incredible flip for the better, and we are thrilled to bring y’all into that journey with us.

We love interacting, so feel welcome to drop us a line or two! 😊
Our communication has been few and far between in these last two years. Though we never stopped exploring, did not stop traveling…but rather dug our heels deep into the most remote beauty of Montana, living life to the extreme.
Last we connected with y’all ~~> may remember we brought our Lucy back up to the Mountains to provide her with a few updates and some much needed TLC. We’ve been rolling in her once again for the last seven months. MT~ ID ~ UT~ AZ ~ NV ~ UT ~ ID ~ MT
Though now she’s back up in Cooke City once more for the Summer of ‘24.
So much good stuff to catch you up on…
Who’s in for the ride! 🤙🏼
Life can change quickly. But no matter what life events happen that impacts your wayward plans. We are bringing our Airstream (our home) out of the desert and into the Mountains. Been way to long. From Montana to Arizona and back again. Here we go!
Words cannot describe some of the devastation here in Cooke City, MT. The first pic is the flooding that took place as it was happening. The second pic is the aftermath. Same bridge. As people probably already know, Yellowstone National Park is currently closed however Cooke City via Cody WY is open. The South end of Yellowstone will open shortly. As a RVer, don’t underestimate how quick recovery can take place. Some beautiful National Forest Campgrounds in this area are open. btw, we had a Moose walk right down Main St last night. So there’s that.
Tonight in just a few minutes we are showing what's it like to drive through Yellowstone National Park in Winter in just One Day. Grizzly's, Black Bear, Bald Eagles, and amazing views. We also show you just a taste of Winter in a small mountain town in Montana. We will be live chatting during the video.

It’s easy to take a sexy photo to glamorize a “nomadic lifestyle”. Or a pic of an exotic landscape with your RV in the background. The uncensored truth is life doesn’t care about your IG account or your travel plans. Life is a journey of ups & downs and at the end of the day it all comes down to how YOU react to adversity as a full time Nomad, or RVer.
This is OUR sexy IG pic. Our e350 7.3 liter diesel is back in and getting ready to takes us to new and exciting places. Did it set us back financially? Yes. Will it stop us from Full Time RV Living? No. Fixing our Tow Vehicle has been cheaper than buying an overpriced used TV. And we continue to travel debt free.
How have you handled adversity on the road?
