Good morning, everyone.
After responding to several water damage calls for leaking ice maker water lines, we found that some insurance carriers deny or make it difficult to have a claim covered for it. They stated that it should have been prevented with regular checks. This ended up making our customers pay out of pocket for the damage, which in some cases was in the thousands of dollars.

A few things that the Army instilled in me after 21 years of service is to think through the problem and come up with solutions to the problems and proper Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), Using this along with my background in water damage and mold remediation we found a solution to this problem.
We are now ready to start offering Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) at Kulp Restoration!
Below is a snapshot of our PMCS Options:

OPTION 1: YEARLY * Materials are not covered.
 Roof inspection.
 Check water main shutoff valves.
 Interior/exterior mold and water damage inspection.
 Clean Dryer Vents
 Check fire extinguishers.

OPTION 2: QUARTERLY (Yearly included) *$200 in materials covered.
Spring:
 Clean and inspect exterior windows and screens.
 Inspect crawlspace.
 Clean gutters
 Inspect and repair bathroom and kitchen caulking.
 Replace smoke/CO detector batteries.
Summer:
 Inspect decks.
 Inspect garage doors.
 Inspect ceiling fans and tighten blades.
 Replace refrigerator water filters.
 Clean dryer vents
Fall:
 Clean gutters
 Interior/exterior inspection for water/mold damage
 Inspect crawlspace.
 Inspect/Replace weather stripping on doors/windows.
 Replace smoke/CO detector batteries.
Winter:
 Inspect door hardware and repair.
 Inspect window hardware and repair.
 Clean bathroom exhaust fans.
 Clean refrigerator coils.
 Replace refrigerator water filters.

OPTION 3 MONTHLY (Yearly and Quarterly included) * $500 in materials covered. What money is not used will roll over to the next year.
MONTHLY
 Inspect gutters and downspouts.
 Visual inspection of exterior.
 Check electrical outlets.
 Replace HVAC filters. (Does not come out of Materials budget)
 Check for leaks in bathrooms/kitchen.
 Treat drain lines. (Does not come out of Materials budget)

When you get home today take a few minutes to do a walk through your home and check for any signs of water intrusion.
Make sure to check areas that you normally don’t go in such as guest bedrooms, closets, bathrooms, basements, etc.
The things to look for are discolored drywall, wet or damp carpet, and discolored or buckling wood flooring.

Getting on top of water intrusion quickly will prevent costly repairs later such as mold and rotting of construction materials.

I would like to take the time to introduce ourselves and what services we provide to our local community and why we decided to start Kulp Restoration Services L.L.C.
I (Stacey Kulp) along with Ben Kulp are the owner and operators.
I Retired from the Army in 2018 after 21 years of service and have over 4 years of certified experience as a previous owner of a restoration company in Alabama along being HVAC certified.
Ben has over 1 year of experience in the field and is currently getting his certification.
I moved back to Griffin in August of 2022 after being gone during my time in the Army. After leaving my Restoration Company in Alabama I was content on just staying retired until the tornados hit Griffin. After seeing my neighbors struggling and being taken advantage of by Strom chasing companies that are not from Griffin or Georgia for that matter, I decided to get back to what I do best, taking care my family and community!

With the storms coming in today and followed up by cold weather please keep safe and protect your pipes by letting your faucets drip during the cold spell to prevent pressure buildup causing leaks.
If you do have storm damage of leaks give us a call at 251-401-6738 so we can get on top of it before it turns into more damage.

This customer called us after he discovered that his hardwood floors in his breakfast area were buckling up and water was coming up through the floor.
His first call was to his plumber who found a leak on the hot water line inside the wall for the washing machine. The hot water line was turned off to prevent further damage until the repair could be made.
Once we arrived onsite, we assessed the damage and found that the water had moved up the walls in the laundry room and moved into the breakfast area where it damaged over half of the wood flooring and moved up the walls.
Upon further inspection we found suspected microbial growth on the door frames, walls, and baseboards and determined that the all the wood flooring, door frames, baseboards, and drywall that had been affected needed to be removed before we could begin drying the areas to prevent further damage and health hazards in the future.
We installed a containment wall along with a air scrubber to prevent any cross contamination into the other parts of the resident and removed and bagged all affected materials. After removal of affected materials, we HEPA Vacuumed and sprayed a anti-microbial solution in the Laundry and Breakfast rooms to eliminate any microbial growth.
Once the removal all affected materials was done, we began drying the rooms using dehumidifiers and fans.
Drying was completed after 3 days, and the laundry and breakfast rooms were ready to be put back together without fear of any issues of microbial growth in the future.
