STEM Atlanta Women, Inc. Celebrates Successful Nike Air Max Event at Nike Unite Store in Atlantic Station!

We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the Nike Air Max activation held at the Nike Unite Retail Store in Atlantic Station on April 6, 2024. This special event, hosted in collaboration with Nike, brought together young scholars in the STEM Atlanta Women community to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the iconic Nike Air Max and explore Nike’s innovative air technology.

Event Highlights:

Location & Attendance: The event took place at 1381 Market St NW, Suite 13100, Atlanta, GA 30363, and was well-attended by super excited young scholars who engaged actively throughout the day from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Innovative Experience: Our scholars had the unique opportunity to learn from a Nike EKIN—experts in Nike's product history and innovation. The session highlighted the cutting-edge air technology behind Nike’s Air Max footwear, enhancing our understanding of the science that supports athletes* in every step.

Nike Terrarium Station: A highlight for many was the Nike Terrarium station, where participants had the opportunity to create their own miniature gardens within small, sealable glass containers. These terrariums are mostly self-sustaining ecosystems, demonstrating the beauty and efficiency of nature’s own processes. Participants learned about transpiration and condensation, seeing firsthand how the plants water themselves in a fascinating display of ecological science.

Community Engagement: The activation fostered a sense of community and inspiration among the young scholars and student athletes, encouraging them to incorporate sports into their daily lives. This aligns with Nike’s belief that "if you have a body, you’re an athlete*."

Transportation & Accessibility: Nike provided transportation to ensure attendees could easily access the venue from the STEM Atlanta Women Innovation Center, enhancing the overall accessibility and convenience of the event.

Positive Impact: The event not only celebrated Nike’s heritage but also acted as a platform for participants to ignite their creativity and broaden their knowledge of athletic innovation, contributing significantly to the local community's engagement in sports and healthy lifestyles. Nike also provided each scholar with lunch, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Looking Forward:
The event was not only a celebration of Nike’s innovative heritage but also a powerful educational platform. Nike provided our young scholars with an in-depth exploration of air technology, particularly through the lens of Air Max footwear, facilitated by knowledgeable Nike EKINs. This unique air experience offered participants a deeper understanding of the technology’s role in enhancing athletic performance and comfort, fostering a greater appreciation for science and engineering among the youth.

Stay tuned for more inspiring events from STEM Atlanta Women and Nike!
