It's that time of the year where we zone in on Hog control on properties! This cooler weather makes for a perfect combination of hog activity day and night as well as not having insects and abundant sweating!

What do yall do to pass time between deer and turkey season!?

We focus on replenishing mineral stations, start our supplemental feed programs, lime our fields, fertilize our Clovers, herd surveys, and enact plans for the upcoming season.

We preach it heavily that proper land management never stops! There's always something to do in building your dream land.

Call us for any of your property needs! We are actively taking bookings for 2023!

Let's talk population dynamics and Trail camera surveys!

Often times, client judge success by the quality and quantity of bucks they see or harvest as the deciding factor of a management plan. While that may be true, a land managers job isn't only to grow bigger bucks. Population health and diversity in age groups plays a crucial role in developing a balanced herd. Offspring Recruitment/survival and immigration/emigration of deer throughout the year both play critical parts in setting harvest goals for the year in order to maintain a HEALTHY high carrying capacity on your land. A well documented trail camera survey performed in late August/early September generates this data for land managers.

This series of photos show/give us several key factors:

1) fawn recruitment
2) adult doe numbers
3) population health

With this data, along with several buck data points, we can assess the dynamics of a herd with landowners. Carrying capacity, current population average, herd health, doe numbers, buck numbers, etc all play a crucial part in setting harvest goals for each season to maintain proper population dynamics!

Over the summer we planned, designed and created several new fields. Planted them in August and been watching the growth and attraction of several hitter bucks and all the does the last few weeks. Gotta love it when a plan gets executed perfectly.

Three box stands we’ve built and installed on 2 properties and 3 field loactions. These box stands were built 3 years ago and each had new fields established by them. Over the years since, these have taken several quality 8 and 10pt bucks, along with does to manage the herd population.

Having the right equipment definitely pays off when setting box stands. These newly placed stands were built last year and installed this summer once the new plots were made with the new skid steer. Once these straw-producing longleaf pines get taller in a year or two, we will come back and raise these boxes 5ft in the air. Can't wait to see what this new stand and plots produce! The deer are hammering them hard already!
