Meet Drew Stauss – a band leader of the Black Sheep Ensemble who has been playing in the Parliament of Owls Lantern Parade since its creation in 2018. 🥁 Spot him on the percussion rig in the middle under the black-and-white umbrella!

“It brings us all out into the streets and reminds us that we are a community, no matter where we live. The joyful play with people we don’t know is so good for us."

“Walking the streets, and particularly walking IN the streets, gives us a whole different perspective on a place. We can spend our time looking at what’s going on around us and connecting to it when we no longer have to worry about cars."

“It’s funny — as a musician, my favorite memory is probably the year the parade got rained out. Instead of feeling down about it, we turned it into a giant dance party. Once we gathered, we were not going to let the opportunity to celebrate together go."

”Every spot in a parade gives us a different experience, so make a lantern and have fun with it. If I was coming to watch, I’d choose a spot on Crescent Ave, where the parade will be right up close, and the music will echo off the buildings.”

For 30 years, Whole World Improv has been making people laugh at their hilarious and memorable improv performances. 🎉 To celebrate their anniversary, the ensemble has been having a “Blockbuster Summer” by parodying their favorite movies from 1994. Per ATLDOT, there will be a temporary road closure on 10th Street NE from Juniper Street NE & Piedmont Avenue NE. This road closure will take place from 9 am to 4 pm, July 26-July 28. This road closure will allow for the removal of a construction crane at a nearby tower project.

After four years, the Atlanta History Center's Midtown campus is reopening on July 10!

The Margaret Mitchell House will now feature a new exhibit titled, “Telling Stories: Gone With the Wind and the American Memory,” which examines the making and meaning of Mitchell’s novel, the movie’s popularity, and the many ways American culture shifted as a result.
