It's hard to believe that a year has passed since my last post! Last May 7 I was in the hospital battling sepsis, a life-threatening bacterial infection in the bloodstream. 1/3 of people with sepsis don't make it. I'm grateful I did, but was so weak afterwards and with so many lingering complications that I was forced to suspend operations for Joy Community Kitchen.

I've gradually regained my strength and health, but still lack the stamina and physical strength I had before. I'll be 69 next month!

Various people have asked me if JCK will resume. I've thought about it at length and concluded:

To start over would require a brand new vision from God (like the one that got us started in 2012); adequate funds to begin; a location; and a likeminded group of helpers and supporters. I have none of these at present.

So it appears we are at the end. I'm grateful for the 12 years of service to our Gwinnett neighnors and eager to see what God has for me next.

I wish to sincerely thank all of you who have been friends and supporters of JCK over the years! Our Board of directors; all individual, church, and corporate donors of funds, goods, and equipment; dedicated community partners: our wonderful volunteers; and those who helped with prayers and guidance.

Jesus said, "Work while it is yet day. The night comes when no one can work."

May we all keep working to further His kingdom, no matter in what capacity, while it is "yet day". And may God bless and keep each one of us.
