Details below: A retreating surface high this weekend will advect ample cold air from the north into #NewEngland. Meanwhile, energy embedded within a upper level trough exiting the southern plains will drive northward and force a surface low to form across the mid-Atlantic and I-95 corridor. Still so many variables that could change the final outcome of the storm (precip. type, timing etc) as the previously mentioned energy is still offshore across the Pacific ocean. We will dial in the details as the week progresses. But... For snow-lovers like me, there is tangible reason to be excited as old-man winter looks to finally return to the northeast! CNN

This week, I had a unique opportunity to speak at The Economist Impact Sustainability week building up to COP 28. I was the first speaker to help kick off the conference, so the pressure was on to make something impactful. Speaking along side some of the world’s top business and scientific leaders, I decided to present a weather forecast as if it was the year 2100, using the high emissions scenario from the latest IPCC AR6 data (as in, what our weather & climate would look like at the end of the century should we continue to pump greenhouse gasses into our atmosphere at an accelerated rate). I also provided a first hand account of how the world’s climate is rapidly changing, harnessing what I’ve witnessed with my reporting in the field. The message was clear and well received.
